mitzvahgirl613- it’s not that hard of a regent. There’s a trick to getting the multiple choice right, and there are about 17 total possible themes. Just prepare for the most commonly recurring themes and you should be fine.

On my regent it was religion. You can check by googling nys global history regents and looking through old regents.

Nothing to be afraid of… If you don’t like your mark you can usually retake it in August.

I don’t think so… regents are always marked at a curve. Look at the scoring booklets on nys regents website.

think of writing compared to spending hours chatting with your best friend about the essay topic. Not such a bad way to look at it.

spend a few hours chatting to your best friend about it, and then the regent will simply feel like a continuation of the conversation.

lol gud idea!! did u ever havta remmber 2 years of(what i think) practically worthless info that WONT take me through life??!!!!?!?!

it will take you through life, without geography, it will be difficult in seminary.

I had issues at an internship because of difficulty adding up numbers, so if I focused on math more I could have done better.

It does apply. Trust me. Sorry if this isn’t the answer you like.

First, it’s not a regent, it’s a Regents Exam. There’s something called the Board of Regents, which I think is something like a board of trustees for the NYS education department. It’s named after them.

Regents Exams have been around for almost 150 years. At some point, I’m sure there was a one-year course on world history, but it’s been a two-year course for many years. You’re lucky that when you take the English Regents Exam, it will only be a one-day (3 hour) test. It was a 2-day (6 hour) test until recently.

I hope your writing on the essays is a lot more formal than your posts here.

My mom studied really hard for the Regents and then they were canceled that year because some kids stole the answers (this was in the 60s I think).

jfem- the answers were published ahead of the exam in the new york times, IIRC. A few kids getting the answers happens all the time, I’d bet.

If you google “regents exam cancelled yeshiva” (without the quotes) and scroll down a bit, you’ll find an article from the Schenectady Gazette from 1989. The previous year, a yeshiva student from Queens was charged with stealing Regents exams and a NYC paper (I think it was the Post) published the answers to the chemistry exam, saying that it wasn’t fair that some kids with money could buy the answers.

A little more googling reveals (according to the Geneva Daily Times) that in 1974, a whole bunch of exams were canceled when students at Solomon Schechter broke in and photocopied the exams.

These days, the security is tighter, but of course it isn’t foolproof.
