With tremendous sadness and a heavy heart, we took in the news of the petirah of the great Gaon and tzaddik, Maran Admor M’Novominsk ZTZVK”L. The Rebbi served the Klal fatefully as Rosh Agudas Yisroel of America for the past 22 years. Now, moving forward, we wont be zoche to have the Rebbi guide us and lead us.
Who will? Who do you think will take over the esteemed role of R’ Moshe Sherer and the Novominsker Rebbe? Who do you think will become the next Rosh Agudas Yisroel?

I think Reb Chaim Dovid Zweibel should be appointed to the position once held by Reb Moshe Sherer in Agudas Yisroel.

After Rabbi Sherer was niftar the Novominsker Rebbe did double duty as an already existing member of the Moetzes to also take on Rabbi Sherer’s duties. That’s how the Rebbe assumed the title of Rosh Agudas Yisroel. The “rosh” referred to the lay leadership of Agudah, not of the Moetzes (where all members are on equal footing.)

Now that we lost both Rabbi Sherer and the Novominsker Rebbe, we should go back to the original system where the lay leadership was a separate position.

ubiq: Rabbi Zweibel assumed his current position in the Agudah about 10 years ago. This was a significant amount of time after Rabbi Sherer was niftar. Previously Rabbi Zweibel was chief counsel of the Agudah.
