The rebbi continued this kind of gezeirah only can only originate from yidden that strayed away from their Jewish heritage.

The rebbi concluded his derasha with the Tefillah of Shema Koleinu, in which we plead with the Ribbono Shel Olam nullify all the gezeiros we face.

The gedolei rabbonim shlita already advised the mohelim and parents to disregard the upcoming NYC health dept. regulation on bris milah.

Jewish Week just posted a story that Agudas Yisroel of America is going to sue the Bloomberg Administration in court if the Health Dept. passes a consent form on MBP.

Why has Agudas Yisroel of America not come out with an official protest against NYC yet?

They have. And they should be filing suit if the city passes this.

shein -“They have. And they should be filing suit if the city passes this.”

They should keep quiet. What’s going to happen is if they protest the consent doctrine, the court case will make national news and all the antisemites (Jew & Non-Jew) will come out of the woodwork trying to outlaw MBP and perhaps Milah, all over the country. If they keep quiet, perhaps this will blow over. It’s not possible to enforce anyway because Milah is a cash business and it’s under the table. If the Mohel does it in-hospital, then the parents will have to sign. Don’t add fuel to their fire. This is Golus and it might backfire.

    Health-

wha! where did that come from?

Your advice would have worked well with MLK and others.

Just let others trample on your rights. And don’t stand up to them because…….

they might make fun of you.

The reason evil triumphs so often isn’t because there are so many evil people, but because there are too many good people who don’t act to stop the evil. This is evil. This isn’t just trivial President bashing or political conversation which has been a questionable use of our First Amendment rights. This gizera goes to the heart of the U.S. Constitution’s guarantee of religious liberty, as well as against Halacha. This gizera is an evil that good people need to take action to stop.

The Agudah should have kept their mouth shut.

    1) MOST/MANY Jews do not do MBP, they do MBTube.

    2) EVEN IF you hold that MBP is required what harm is there in notification?

The city is not forbidding it, they are stating that if you want to do it, then you need consent. I see nothing wrong with that.

The Rebbe’s statement that there hasn’t been a gezeirah like this since the Inquisition is pure stupidity and negates anything positive he may have also said.

The only thing that the Agudah will end up accomplishing is ruining milah for the rest of the frum Jews.

It is a constitutional violation of freedom of religion. You cannot regulate a purely religious ritual. And if you let this pass, the next step is they’ll ban it.

It’s a surgical procedure, not purely religious. If a mohel w as performing MBP wouldn’t you want to know if he was healthy if it were your son/grandson?

    yitzchokm -“Health-

It comes from wisdom & experience.

Stop letting your emotions get the better of you -try to use some logic. African -Amer. didn’t have civil rights at that time. Making you sign a paper isn’t outlawing it – which if they do, then at that time it would make it into a civil rights issue.

Did you even read all the posts? What Gezira is against the Constitution and/or Halacha? Are you trying to tell me making s/o sign a paper is against your constitutional rights? Are you trying to tell me making s/o sign a paper is against Halacha? If you are, you’re sadly mistaken!

Save your anger and protest for a real issue!

The problem is that bloomberg seems to have an anti-religious bias, which makes his motive suspect. And this may indicate there are more regulations to follow.

First of all a bit of respect for a holy rabbi like this. you should be ashamed of yourself for talking like that.

2)if you look back at history every decree started with small things, the rebbi statement i understand is, that by the NYC health dept getting involved in Mitzvas Milah they are going to eventually regulate and ban milah like in 2012 yes 2012 (not that far off) ban milah in NYC then in all of USA like in 2012 in Nazi-Germany did in year 2012.

    3) you say MOST/MANY Jews do not do MBP, they do MBTube.

where do you get these numbers? why you making statements that are false, MOST/MANY Jews DO MBP, they do not MBTube.

getzel1 -I agree about the Rebbe. The Rebbe has every right to protest about this amongst Yidden. The problem I have is protesting this amongst the Goyim, like the Agudah is doing. This will push them to try and do more Geziros against Frum Yidden.

If we don’t make a mountain out of a moehill, perhaps this will all blow over.

And this incident is all the more reason to vote Repub., because right now, they are the only ones who care about religious rights in this country. The Dems care about womens’ rights, minority rights, illegal immigrant rights, Toeivah rights, but religious rights they don’t believe in!

    1) MBP is not a requirement for milah, around 250 years ago there were rabbonim who were against it and telling people to use tubes/pipettes.

    2) If MBP is not a requirement, then if there is a backlash against milah causing health issues/deaths, then it makes sense to stop a practice that is not required so it gets people off our backs.

    3) The Constitution is not at issue here. It is against the law to bring human sacrifices, even if it is part of some religions. If something causes harm/death, then the 1st Amendment will not protect you.

    4) As for your claim that most/many do perform MBP, I can only tell you that you are mistaken. I can’t reveal identities, so I can only urge you to actually speak to rabbanim. I have. Only chassidim and a few hard-core UOJ-RW-etc. do MBP. IIRC, even Briskers do not do MBP.

    5) I stand by my claim that calling this the worst gezeirah is stupid, it is.

truthsharer, i will not address any of your claims anymore since i do not argue with people that don’t have respect for Rabbonim, (anyone around the CR long enough knows this about me)
