Did anyone else attend? Wasn’t it AMAZING?!
In honor of Sarah Schenirer’s 80th Yartzheit, 13,000 Bais Yaakov students gathered at Barclay Center today, for a day of inspiration. I just got back, and omg it was so amazing! They had the best speakers (Rabbi Ephraim Waschman, Rebbetzin Rina Tarshish, Rav Malkiel Kotler and a lot more), and it was so cool to see so many BY girls all in the same hall…

Apparently, 12,999 other girls attended as well.

March 18, 2015 12:35 am at 12:35 am #1065406shiraloverMemberIt was amazing and really inspirational. A once in a lifetime opportunity!
March 18, 2015 1:34 am at 1:34 am #1065407Letakein GirlParticipantHey shiralover! Wonder if we saw each other at the event… 🙂
My takeaway from the event is the same as Shira’s, I guess. Just… I dunno, it was over too soon. Already the inspiration is wearing off.

March 18, 2015 5:22 am at 5:22 am #1065409147ParticipantA once in a lifetime opportunity! Well there shall eventually be a 90th Johrzeit & a 100th Johrzeit, so I don’t 1quite comprehend how this is being defined a s once in a lifetime opportunity?
March 18, 2015 11:25 am at 11:25 am #1065410jakywebMemberWill there be a commerative issue printed?
March 18, 2015 11:48 am at 11:48 am #1065411Letakein GirlParticipant147, we will have graduated, and will probably not be in a situation where we can drop everything to attend a Yartzheit gathering in the maids lemon tenday, know what I mean?
maids lemon tenday?
March 18, 2015 11:50 am at 11:50 am #1065412DaMosheParticipantMy favorite part about it was the flyer advertising the event in Brooklyn on Monday night. They blurred out the faces of all the girls in front of the Beis Yaakov schools.
March 18, 2015 12:17 pm at 12:17 pm #1065413JosephParticipantBig deal. So they blurred it. The only people that are bothered are the usual small cadre of loud “activists”.
March 18, 2015 4:31 pm at 4:31 pm #1065414apushatayidParticipantSo, what amazed you, and what inspired you? what did it inspire you to do or feel?
March 18, 2015 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #1065415zahavasdadParticipantSarah Schnerer was the founder of Beis Yaakov,
March 18, 2015 4:59 pm at 4:59 pm #1065416DaMosheParticipantThere are many things about Sarah Schenirer which are not taught to Beis Yaakov girls.
Her original lectures were attended by both men and women.
When she got sick, she wrote in her diary, “For the first time in twenty-three years I did not daven be’tzibbur”. It seems she went to shul every day!
After she married, her husband said she was too religious for him, and divorced her.
