My friend told me the ????? says that ???)and his wife I suppose) are the fifth pair buried in mearas hamachpela. I have no idea if this is true or not, but if he does say it, it raises problems with at least one possuk and mutiple chazals. Does anyone a) have a source for this? B) have pshat in this if it does indeed exist?

    Thanks so much

Rabbi Wallerstein discussed this in a recent shiur, entitled “The Pearl Necklace.”

The Chiddah is in Parshas Chayei Sarah, perek ??.

You don’t need the Chida. It was already said by R’ Eleazar of Worms several hundred years earlier:

    ??? ??? ??? ?? ?????? ???’ ?’ ????? ????? ????? ?’ ????? ??’ ??????

    ??????? ?? ????? ???? ???? ????? ???? ???? ???????? ?? ??? ???? ??? ?????? ???”? ??? ??? ???? ?????? ???? ??? ??? ???? ?? ?? ????? ????? ??? ????? ?? ??? ??? ?? ?????? ??? ???? ???? ????? ???? ??? ??? ??? ??? ?? ?????? ??? ??????? ?????’ ?? ???? ???? ???? ???? ?? ??? ????? ??? ????? ????? ??? ??? ??? ???? ??? ?? ??? ??????? ??? ??? ???? ?? ??? ???? ???? ??? ?????? ?”?

No, it’s on torahanytime.com, and it’s called Parshat Chayei Sarah “The Pearl Necklace”

    Enjoy!

    So I guess “??? ??? ??? ?? ??????” is to be interpreted as

referring only to the time when he was actually buried?

(Also, when was Tziporah buried there, and by whom?)

I think the Zohar Hakadosh discusses the fact that even his bones did not go in. Also, many Mephorshim (including the ??? ????? ??’, the Chida’s Rebbi) explain that the reason for Moshe Rabbeinu being buries outside of Eretz Yisroel is to bring the Yidden back from the Galus. Also, isn’t there a Medrash about a king who tried finding the Kever, and it seemed to those on top that it was on bottom and vice versa?

An easy way out is that his physical bones did not enter but his Neshama did go through Me’aras Hamachpeila which is described as the doorway to the Olam Haneshamos.

Apparently there’s a zohar that says there is a tunnel going underground from mearas hamachpela to moshes grave. Possible teretz there
