I always hear a lot of segulos for shidduchim at this time of year. Anybody care to add them here?
Cleary Purim is a tremendous eis ratzon as is brought down in sefarim. Why is that not sufficient. Why do we need these gimmicky segulos.
This whole segula chasing mentality is sad and casues many people to have false hope….
Segula for anything: Say kapitel ?”?, ?? ???? ???? on ????? ???? (I guess shabbos this year) and then ask for whatever you need ????? ????? ?????. (heard at a drasha.)
I have heard if you drink a bottle of Wild Turkey, you will be too drunk to check anybody out, and will get engaged to the first person you see.
I heard some good ones are not being hung up on yichus,not needing someone with the exact same ideas as you to the letter.
Also, not letting a prospective match go because they have one of the following: Divorced parents, a 3rd cousin who went off the derech 20 years ago, saw a therapist, had the flu, saw a tv once,uses a different type of tablecloth on shabbous.

BPG: Do you have hard stats that they are more “effective” than any other tzedaka?
I actually was in contact with the head of the org and he admitted to me that he doesn’t.
You migh have a nice personal story as do some others, and many many have not had their “yeshua”. I’m still waiting for that booklet to be printed…

Better that they are channeling their energies in a good way, rather than just being a desperate wreck. Tehillim and Tzedaka never killed anyone anyway…

AZ- I personally never donated but I read their ad in the Hamodia and it sounds like it’s worth it to try

BPG: Funny – I saw their ad and i actually called as asked what kind of right do they have to make such a claim. The exact words are “no question about it– it works!”
He admitted he has no claim that his tzeddaka is any better than any other tzeddaka and of course we all believe tzedakka umassim tovim has the capacity to be koreah gzar din.
Sac: Tzedaaka umaasim tovim YES YES YES!! segula chasing NO NO NO… That leads people to false hope and -ultimately – to lose hope.

Anybody saying the entire sefer tehillim after chatzos tonight? I plan on doing so (ok… I know I’m pretty young, but still… I don’t think davening for a good shidduch is ever too early). I heard it’s a wonderful segula!
