Hi, I figured that before we get several threads in the about seminary scholarships that it would be nice to create one thread with a list of different places. This list should for sure include general ones- no matter where you are from, and specific city/ qualifications (such as NCSY participation or you live in St. Louis).
Here it goes:
1. Always check with the Jewish Federation where you live. Some places will grant scholarships through their federations, some will not. Chicago for sure does.
2. Youth Group Participation: Oorah, NCSY, I think Camp Nageela also has something.
3. Some scholarships are for airfare such as Jeff Seidel. Many people also may choose to do birthright around the time that the school year starts in order to get at least one way paid for. You have to qualify and when you apply, ask for a ticket extension.
4. Ask your day school about scholarships that they know of.
5. FAFSA- try to do a program through a us college such as YU, Touro, Hebrew Theological College.
6. Be creative: You can always do a garage sale after you graduate hs and sell things like your uniforms that do not fit you for really cheap and other useful stuff, babysit, tutor young elementary school kids, give guitar lessons, get a summer job before you go to seminary (try to get something other than a camp counselor such as an office job if possible- also looks good on your resume after seminary).
7. Sometimes, people in seminary are able to find a one time a week job for an hour or two babysitting on Fridays/ Motzei Shabbos/ on a Free night. I had friends who would be hired to spend an hour or two cleaning a week which helped them pay for their bus fares for each week so they could spend their other money on food and stuff.

8. MASA- everyone qualifies.
9. Crowdfunding
10. Write letters to your wealthy relatives (even if they are not frum).
11. Speak to any shul you have an affiliation with (it never hurts to ask, even if they do not have resources, maybe the rabbi will- there have been times in which shuls that are not orthodox have helped people go to frum seminaries b/c the main goal of the programs are forming a strong jewish identity and connection to israel).

(In recent years it has skewed more MO, but historically it has taken people going to places ranging from BJJ and Hadar to Neve to The Conservative Yeshiva (which I’d never heard of until I saw it on the list, to be honest)).
This is also for boys, BTW.
