    Hi ladies,

I was wondering, do any of you wear a shirt or dress that has large parts that are covered with sequins.

If you do wear a top like that, why do you think it is OK as far as attractiveness goes?

    If not, why not?

    Just curious.

    Hey Men,

I was wondering, do any of you wear a shirt or tie that has large parts that are covered with a paisley pattern?

If you do wear a top like that, why do you think it is OK as far as attractiveness goes?

    If not, why not?

    Just curious.

I have some tops like that. But they’re all very simple and not loud at all.

It depends on what the top looks like and much is covered by sequins.

    Fashionablee:LOL!!!!!!! your so right!!!

BME: IM SORRY THE CONCEPT OF MODESTY DOESN’T ONLY APPLY TO WOMEN!! IT APPLIES TO MEN IN THE SAME RESPECT!!

I learnt the halachot of the way men have to dress and what they should and shouldn’t wear and what must always be covered and it isn’t much easier for a boy to be a seniut person over a girl it is very hard!

Personally, I don’t wear things with the shiny sequins, I think it is attracting. The same way I wouldn’t wear red or a very bright color. The light just makes the sequins shiny and well, more noticeable. Maybe some women don’t realize it, when they wear highly sequined garments, but I can spot them from across the hall or down the street. Be attractive, not attracting.

No, I don’t, but I think that as long as it’s done tastefully and the shirt itself (fit-wise) is tznius, there really shouldn’t be a problem.

i once tried on a sequined top that i see people wearing. i looked and felt like a walking mirror and flashing neon sign all at once. i think sequins are flashy and attention getting. i do not wear them

i own 1 item with sequins-the fancy dress i wear to chasunahs, and the sequins are sparsely part of the design and not noticeable. thats as much of a sequin i will wear and feel comfortable in what i am wearing

I don’t think they are too attention-grabbing to wear, but I do think they are tacky. so I don’t wear them.

Thanks for the people who assured me that some people are still sane out there and know that when a woman wears sequin her body sparkles and ya- Not what Hashem is looking for a person to be.

And puppy – There are Rabbis that agree with you and say that because everyone else dresses immodestly men esp are desensitized, and women can wear what the world wears. I on the other hand side with most Torah Observant Rabbis and disagree.
