Dips are only allowed on Pesach.

“On all other nights, we don’t dip even once…”

In Eretz Yisrael we are blessed with Hummus, Tehina, Eggplant in Mayo, Mock Liver Eggplant, Matbucha and other delicacies. When I lived in the US, I dipped challa in gefilte fish jelly, because living in Galus is supposed to a punishment. Just kidding, I still dip in gefilte fish jelly, because I don’t want my children to forget their Ashkanazi heritage.

    I like chummus.

    Recipe:
    1 container of chummus
1 small serving dish that your wife likes

    Variations:
If you’re single you can skip the dish

My wife’s homemade hummus on her homemade challah. I roast garlic before Shabbat to mash into the hummus.

Oh, where to start? I love them all!
    There’s:
    Dill flavored mayonnaise
    Olive flavored mayonnaise
    Onion flavored mayonnaise
    Eggplant flavored mayonnaise
    Pickle flavored mayonnaise
    Mushroom flavored mayonnaise
    and so many more!

And lekavod Shabbos it’s my absolute pleasure to pay $7 for that little square dish containing 3.5 tablespoons of flavored mayonnaise which cost the takeout 59 cents to make.

Matbucha is a garlicky, delicately sharp tomato-based dip – no mayo ;-)!

I thought Shabbos dips was a popular dance in the 1940’s and 50’s.
