I’ve been told that I can make a $100 (womens) outfit look like a $600 one, and inexpensive home decor, look expensive (its my fun challenge). Now, how can I transalate that to income, in this economy?

    I used to write poetry.

I used to embroider – yarmulkes, matzo & challah covers, Pesach pillowcases, shirts, jackets.

nowadays– my ‘talent’ is still being able to dance to rock ‘n roll music even with my double knee replacements.

and– marathon cooking erev Yom Tov, so I don’t havta cook on Yontif.

also: I will always protect my children.. even tho’ they’re all married.. against anyone!!

I don’t know how good I am , however, I do enjoy drawing and arts n crafts.

I can sing. It’s mostly a wasted talent in a female, but as a kid I had solos in pretty much every school concert or choir. Now I only sing to my kids.

I can also cook well. And eat well. 🙂

MII, that was my talent also (singing), and now I do that primarily for my aineklach, for whom I also make up songs, and stories (used to write quite a bit). My big talent these days is being a Bubby. Best part of my life.

Damage control. When things are spiraling downward, I can ususally salvage the project, or at least minimize the pain.

    TIPS?

Gimme a senario, and I’ll see what I got it the backpack.

For starters, most things can be whittled down to one or 2 main issues. Its the myraid of details that complicate life. Once you’ve indentified the core of the problem, the soloution is usually right under your nose.

But fire away.. I love a good challenge!

blinky- luck is a part of backgammon for sure but there is a lot of strategy involved if you think its mostly luck your mistaken

TheGoq- of course its stragety also but the dice sometimes is the winning factor for example if you have four pieces left on the board on the sixth row and your opponent has one piece on the first row and its your turn and you get a DOUBLE SIX….You win!!!! Now that was clearly the dice but of course i know if you were playing right you would have made sure you wouldn’t have four pieces left on a hard row to get rid of. I should have a game with you sometime:)

    deiyzooger- a female?

blinky id love to play a game with you, maybe at the first ever ywncr convention they will have a game room!

    #1005451

I think it’s more strategy than luck. You have to know how to play the roll smartly. It does happen though that the roll of the dice is the deciding factor in a game. But it’s more fun when the player with the better strategy wins.

” it’s sudden loud noise, and kids really hurting each other “

Ah, my favorite senario, as I’ve been in (in my younger days) and presided over (in my not so younger days) dozens of them.

    * Step one: Separate the warring factions

    * Step two: Ask each one how THEY would solve the problem, if it were up to them

    * Step three: make sure they understand that this rational will be applied to them the next time (and there’s always a next time) there’s a flair-up.

    * Step four: Ask each side if they’d like to consider a “compromise” which would also be applied next time around (this helps them understand the cause/effect concept)

Of course, nothing works if things are at the melt-down stage. Then, the only thing you can do is take one of the sides into another room, press the “re-set” button, and tackle the issue the next day. Just be sure you’re taking each side for the same number of “re-sets” so one one feels like their being singled out for punishment.

(and no, don’t resort to the “tie you to a tree” tactic.. not yet, anyways 😉

Mother in Israel how do You deal with a backgamer (one who wants their pieces to be taken off so they can occupy at least two unhittable spots in your zone)

Knowing how to properly use the doubling cube is also essential.

    The Wolf

    #1005458

so (one) [no] one feels like their being singled out for punishment.

    Now that takes talent!

I stay calm during medical emergencies. Kid walks into the house dripping blood, no problem. Kid glues his eyes closed, no problem. Kid fell & knocked out a tooth or two or three, I don’t freak out. I calmly assess the situation and deal with it. This talent is a gift from Above, not something I can take credit for.

But I don’t do well when I see a mouse run by.

i LOVE to sing. and i don’t know if this is considered talent, but i have friends who would get really nervous b4 tests and reports- and i really mean nervous, like shaking and starting to cry (in 12th grade) and if i would be helping them, they would keep telling me, it’s sssssssoooooooo good how you remain so calm…

truth is, they made me more nervous than the actual test!

c’mon, try studying with someone who keeps looking at the clock and saying “oh no! six hours until you hafta leave! how are we gonna finish?!”

You’re also good at flying under the radar. Time was, you’d be posting 55 out of 60 minutes. These days, we barely hear from you.

Whatup? Any promising leads we need to be aware of? Or did I miss the announcment?

Hashem gave me many talents and as I grow older I keep finding talents I didn’t know I had or never had earlier in life. He gave me the ability to sing and draw which helped me through school. I had a talent with young children and as I got older I found I had a talent with teens and older people. I have a talent to cook, crochet and decorate. I have a talent to mentor kids and make shalom between people. I have also learned coaching and the talent that goes along with it. In learning coaching I have learnt how to truly listen to understand. How NOT to “tell” and along with that have left behind the burden of the responsibility of having told people what to do. That has removed from me a tremendous “ole” from my shoulders.

One of my most famous talent is teaching the most fearful how to swim. They just seem to trust me, so I teach young children and scared women how to swim. Just another talent Hashem gave me. I would never presume that I just came about these talents on my own. Hashem is in charge.
