This morning I woke up, ready to go to shul and I saw that upon my doorstep was a slab of chocolate cake. This chocolate is no ordinary chocolate cake. It is a chocolate cake from a very famous non Jewish baker. I live in an area of mainly Jews. Shall I call it out? If so surely I may be causing a Jew to eat non kosher? What should I do?

You should throw the cake in the garbage.

If it belongs to a Jew, you should not return it to them – for obvious reasons.

If it belongs to a non-Jew, there is no mitzva of returning lost items to their owner.

    Any other opinions?

Donate it to a non-Jewish charity.

?? ???? (However, contemporary Poskim prefer the ????? ??? aspect).

Also, you must be very careful when donating to non-Jewish charities not to violate Halacha.

There is no requirement to return it even if the owner is ???? ?????? because you found it after ?????, as I indicated above.

Whenever I received any food gift from a non-jew I would give it to our cleaning woman.

Where do you live that people just leave slabs of chocolate cake on people’s doorsteps?
