Does anybody know the lyrics for MBDs Ivrit “Shir Hashalom” (greatest hits 2 song 5; 25 Years of music song 6)?

I also need the lyrics for Avraham Frieds Ivrit Aleh Katan Sheli (Single; Live In Israel song 7; The 30 Hits Collection Song 01)

And does anybody have the lyrics for “Shema Yisrael” – an Ivrit song (I don’t know who sings the original song; Shloime Daskal sings it on Dance with Shloime Daskal Song 21)

    All help appreciated!

If the Shema Yisrael is the one I’m thinking of, here are the original words, as sung by Sarit Hadad:

    Kshehalev boche rak Elokim shomea

    Bitfila ktana chotech et hadmama

Shma israel Elokai ata hakol yachol

Natata li et chayai natata li hakol

Shma Israel Elokai achshav ani levad

Chazek oti Elokai ase shelo efchad

    Kshehalev boche hazman omed milechet

El halo noda hu lo rotze lalechet

    and here’s the translation:

When the heart cries only God hears

The pain rises from the soul

A man falls down before he sinks

He cuts the silence with a small prayer

Shma Israel, my God, you are the mighty one

You gave me my life you gave me everything

A tear in my eyes, the heart cries in silence

And when the heart is silent the soul cries out

Shma Israel, my God, I am all alone now

Make me strong, my God, so I will not be afraid

The pain is great and there is no where to run

When the heart cries time stands still

A man sees his life passing in front of him

He calls his God as he stands on the edge of the deep

Towards the end of “Yesh Tikva”, he uses different words for the chorus. Does anyone know what they are?

DaasYochid, I was going to ask the same question.

At the end of “Yesh Tikva” sung by Benny Friedman,

he uses different words for the chorus.

Can anyone else make them out, or are they written anywhere?

    Thank you.

English Lyrics translated by Rabbi Eli Freidman

    Look around, far and near

Where’s the joy, where’s the cheer

Why the fear, why the frown

    Why the smile upside down

    Shake yourself from the dust

Scrape your soul from the rust

Know that this too shall pass

    For in G-d we trust

    There is hope

If we sing our hope together

We have faith that is stronger than the terror

    No despair, no dismay

    Everything will be okay

He is with us night and day

    Brother dear

    Dry your tears

    Take my hand, never fear

    Let’s advance, side by side

And let’s cast our fright aside

    Don’t forget all the love

    That we have from Above

And you’ll see with the dawn

All the pain will be gone

ETA: Just realized I didn’t really help you figure the second chorus out- and I can’t even listen to it myself to figure it out :(. Sorry…

    #1155208

The REAL translation is: (this is MY sister’s translation-im posting it for her)

    Look, here and there

From a circle of the world

    There are Tzaros and worries

The smile is (i dont know what that is)????

    Dont see only black

    For this, too, will pass

    and everything will work out

    Because hashem will help

    There is hope

    we will sing all together

there is a strong emunah from all fear

    ????????????????

    because were not alone

    we have one hashem

    Hey, my brother

    come with me

    Put your hand in mine

    dont worry dont be scared

Because were ?????? Hand in hand

    h”bh

    love everyone

    Soon youll see tomorow

    it will end the pain

Her hebrew isnt so well, so a few lines/words she didnt translate. But its pretty good for a year in israel, i wanted to post the translation, but she translated it better than me, and since shes not posting im doing it

For those who appreciated Machnisei Dimah’s yiddish lyrics, I wrote a song in English (2001?) based on that song. I finally figured out how to copy and paste,so I will try….

    C. Banet Tape

    Yiddishe Kinder, do you know

    That in shomayim, tears flow

    For yiddishe tears still overflow

And when, this glass is full, Moshiach will come.

Six million screamed Shema Yisroel Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echod

Tears were shed for rivers of Yiddish blood

How many tears soak every cheek?

Our precious Tehillim will one day speak

Oy, oy, oy, when / will / the geula be here at last?

Oy Ribono Shel Olam, how deep is the glass?

So many hearts are broken, so many tefillos spoken

Young yesomim voices piercing the crowd

The tzibbur listens with sadness as / they say Kaddish out loud

    Tosim dimoseinu benodcha

    Ana, rachem al amcho

How can it be the glass is not yet full?

    [musical interlude here]

    Yiddishe Kinder, do you know

    That in shomayim, tears flow

    For yiddishe tears still overflow

And when / this glass is full Moshiach will come.

    Tears of another kind

Could fill the glass, each drop we find

We plead with you Hashem, please gather them in

    Tears of a simcha

    Of mitzvos done with kavannah

With these tears, too, perhaps the glass will brim.

Oy, oy, Ribono Shel Olam, please / look down and see

The tears a mother and father shed freely

Leading a choson and kallah under the chuppah

So many tears of friends and family

Oy, oy, Ribono Shel Olam, please / look down with pride

See yiddishe mothers bentching the licht each Friday night

Whispering, Yehi Rotzon Lifnei Hashem Elokai

The precious tears of every Aim Habonim

    (music)

Well, it would’ve been, could’ve been worse than you would ever know.

Oh, the dashboard melted, but we still have the radio.

Oh, it should’ve been, could’ve been worse than you would ever know.

Well, you told me about nowhere well it sounds like someplace I’d like to go.

Oh, it could’ve been, should’ve been worse than you would ever know.

Well, the windshield was broken but I love the fresh air you know.

(The dashboard melted but we still have the radio)

Oh, it would’ve been, could’ve been worse than you would ever know, oh!

(The dashboard melted but we still have the radio)

Oh, we talked about nothing which was more than I wanted you to know-oh-oh-oh-oh.

    Now here we go!

Oh! It would’ve been, could’ve been worse than it had even gone

Well, the car was on blocks, but I was already where I want.

(It was impossible, we ran it good, we ran it good)

Why should we ever even ever really even get to know?

(It was impossible, we ran it good, we ran it good)

Oh if the world don’t like us it’ll shake us just like we were a co-oh-oh-oh-old.

    Now here we go!

Well we scheme and we scheme but we always blow it

We’ve yet to crash, but we still might as well tow it

Standing at a light switch to each east and west horizon,

    Every dawn you’re surprising,

and in the evening one’s consoling

Saying “See it wasn’t quite as bad as”

Well, it would’ve been, could’ve been worse than you would ever know.

I was patiently erasing and recording the wrong episodes

After you had proved my point wrong,

    It wasn’t like I’d let it go, oh-oh-oh. Oh-oh-oh.

I just wanted to catch the last laugh of this show.

Yeah, it would’ve been, could’ve been worse than you would ever know.

Oh, the dashboard melted, but we still have the radio.

(The dashboard melted, but we ran it good, we ran it good)

Hard-wired to conceive, so much we’d have to stow it

Even needs have needs, tiny giants made of tinier giants.

Don’t wear eyelids so I don’t miss the last laugh of this show.

(The dashboard melted but we still have the radio)

Oh, we could’ve been, should’ve been worse than you would ever know.

(The dashboard melted but we still have the radio)

Well, you told me about nowhere well it sounds like someplace I’d like to go-oh-oh-oh-oh.

    The Chevrah, I’m a Jew

“It’s insane the parade of daily living. It’s not easy, a many can get confused. With the mad demands of constant giving, we feel hopeless just like we are being used. When your day to day life

is a hectic scramble, going crazy, I don’t know what to do. Turn your family around the Shabbos table, singing zemiros, it’s great to be a Jew.

So come and sing with me and dance a little.

I’ll play my guitar and you’ll play the fiddle.

And we’ll thank Hashem who made us a yiddle, shout it out

    Ani Yehudi.

Just come and sing we me a song to shamayim, I’ll play my guitar, you’ll clap your yedayim, then we’ll praise Hashem and make a L’chaim, sing it loud, I am so proud, I’m a Jew.

In the course of life a man gets lonely. something is missing, a man can get depressed.

It’s time to turn to the One and Only.

He’ll help you realize that you are truly blessed.

Lend a helping hand to a needy neighbor.

Invite a stranger as a yom tov guest. Be a friend to the widow and the orphan. Remember always that life is but a test.

So come and sing with me and dance a little.

I’ll play my guitar and you’ll play the fiddle. And we’ll thank Hashem who made us a yiddle, shout it out Ani Yehudi.

Just come and sing we me a song to shamayim, I’ll play my guitar, you’ll clap your yedayim, then we’ll praise Hashem and make a L’chaim, sing it loud, I am so proud, I’m a Jew.

Every day a yid should say, “Hey I’m a lucky man. I

was chosen by Hashem to be the best I can.” Then you will find true peace of mind start to sing again.

So come and sing with me and dance a little. I’ll play my guitar and you’ll play the fiddle. And we’ll thank Hashem who made us a yiddle, shout it out Ani Yehudi. Just come and sing we me a song to shamayim, I’ll play my guitar, you’ll clap your yedayim, then we’ll praise Hashem and make a L’chaim, sing it loud, I am so proud, I’m a Jew.”

Scratch that, it’s Yehuda! and it’s called Perek Shira.

    Take a look around you

    A symphony of sound

    Creation in its rhythm

    The melody astounds

    Each creature plays its part

    Music from their hearts

Shining stars up in the heavens

    Waves upon the seas

    Roaring lions in the jungle

    Fruit blossoms in the trees

    The wilderness, the desert sand

    An eagle in its flight

    They rhapsodize Perek Shira

    CHORUS

    Generations of song

    Sing loud sing strong

    Each one feels the same

As they call out His name

Thank You Hashem as I sing You my song

    Chasdei Hashem Leolam Ashira

    To orchestrate each word

We raise our voice in song

    Ailecha Hashem Nafshi Ekra

    Now with deep anticipation

    We await that final day

When all of us will come together

    Vesham Nashir Shir Chadash

    Singing the same song

    Shiru Lanu Mi-Shir Tziyon

    CHORUS

    Generations of song

    Sing loud sing strong

    Each one feels the same

As they call out His name

Thank You Hashem as I sing You my song

    Chasdei Hashem Leolam Ashira

Your gift of song, each melody

Each note, each tune and every harmony

    Just sing out loud

    Allow your voice to fly

    Generations of song

    Sing loud sing strong

    Each one feels the same

As they call out His name

Thank You Hashem as we sing You our song

I know this is so vague, but I heard a song the other week and some lines have been playing though my head since then. I’ve never heard of the song before, and I have no idea who sings it.

Some of the random lyrics I remember are- and I can’t guarantee I got the words right:

The captain of the little ship has to guide it faithfully…

Carried by the waves that has become my history…

Are we living if we can’t change…

    There’s gotta be a better way…

Anyone know what I’m talking about? Who sings it? Where I can buy it from? Know any more of the lyrics? It’s been driving me nuts!!!

streekgeek- The song is called “Change” on Ari Goldwag’s new CD, Am Echad. (It has a couple of really nice songs.) Here are the Lyrics.

Am I that predictable, is this all I’ll ever be

The words I say, the things I feel, all seem to define me

But aren’t we just reading from a script, we, ourselves wrote

From there we seem to quote, it’s true

When I am acting as myself, and playing out my role

The one thing I must recognize is a lack of depth and soul

Why doesn’t that bird ask itself, ‘Why should I build this nest’

Before it builds the rest, it’s true

    Chorus:

And through the ocean mist I can discern who I will be

Carried by the waves of what’s become my history

And are we really living if we can’t change

If we are merely products of ourselves

There’s got to be a better way

The strongest winds are on the sea of tranquility

The captain of the little ship tries to guide her faithfully

The choices that he makes can’t be the choices he’d just make

But the choices he must make, it’s true

The winds all seem much stronger as I sense this truth inside

But there’s a little secret that can calm this bumpy ride

The paradox is that the more I start to accept

The higher I’ll connect, it’s true

    Chorus

We can find the strength inside to chart a brand new course

We can find the bravery to weather all the storms

No matter what we’re feeling, we can change

We can make something of ourselves

Deep inside, we can find a better way
