Inspired by the Ride the Train thread.
In the song “The Artist” (Sheves Achim 2), there’s one part that goes:
“But instead of replying the artist just smiled/
And whispered “My friend, say no more,” “
Well, if he’s whispering, isn’t that a reply?
Also, in Baruch learns about Shabbos, I never understood one line. There’s a whole song about things he wouldn’t do because its Shabbos, and then he says:
“I will not milk a cow/
I don’t even know how”
Well then it has nothing to do with keeping Shabbos. He’s not milking a cow, because he doesn’t know how to. Not because he’s keeping Shabbos. I have never built a rocket on Shabbos. Not because its Shabbos, because I wouldn’t have a clue how to do it. I’ve never built a rocket on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday either. Same thing. (Yes I am probably taking this way too seriously 🙂 )
It’s because he davka didn’t learn how milk a cow, because it’s something that is assur to do on shabbos and he didn’t want to know how to do assur things.
also – I don’t know how many people remember this song since its not so new, but in the song “The Dove” (Shloime Dachs):
“The sun breaks through the clouds/
The mother dove is proud/
Her heart is filled with joy/
As she looks with affection at her boy, so pure and white/
Against the black of night”
But if the sun is breaking through the clouds, doesn’t that suggest that it’s day?
