I heard in a shiur that its a big inyan to give Tzeddaka on erev Sukkos. The reason in a nutshell is because the first nights Ushpizin (guest) is Avraham Avinu who represents the middoh of chessed. What better way for us to prepare to greet him than with all the chassadim we just did that day!
how about with some tongue and butter?
