Does anyone know where I can buy spicy mayo that’s used for sushi?

Try Pomegranate. I never looked, but its the kind of thing they would have. They probably have the seaweed sheets too.

Yes, pomegranate does sell spicy mayo.

however, it’s quite easy to make yourself.

just mix mayo, cayenne pepper sauce (red hot, frank’s…), a bit of garlic powder and a bit of sugar and you got yourself some spicy mayo.

    🙂

dunno – i don’t use exact proportions. put mayo in bowl, slowly add the cayenne pepper sauce till it’s the consistency you’d like. then add garlic and sugar to taste.

mchemtob – it will probably taste similar. the garlic and sugar should taste like the ketchup. the only difference is that ketchup usually has high fructose corn syrup in it. BTW, you should check your mayo – some of them also have high fructose corn syrup inside.

The way its done in for sushi is by using a hot sauce called sriracha hot chili sauce. This could be found in asian markets or specialty food stores. Sometimes even your local grocery will have it. Take a cup of mayo and add one teaspoon of sriracha hot chili sauce then add a teaspoon of sugar and two teaspoons of water. Mix well and adjust the heat to your likings.
