Do you think (assuming you would have other non jewish magazines in you house)this is a kosher magazine or not?
October 3, 2011 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm #813885TheGoqParticipantnot
October 3, 2011 8:12 pm at 8:12 pm #813886The FrumguyParticipantIn order to allow my son to read it, my wife first goes through each issue with scissors to extricate all indecent photos.
October 3, 2011 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm #813887☕️coffee addictParticipantWhat’s the other magazines?
October 3, 2011 8:18 pm at 8:18 pm #813888✡onegoal™ParticipantGoq- Any particular reason?
The Frumguy- So what you are saying is, is that it’s an ok magazine, but there are/may be inappropriate ads or pictures in it?
October 3, 2011 8:19 pm at 8:19 pm #813889gezuntheitMemberIsn’t it full of pritzus? Isn’t this the mag famous for its swimsuit issue?
October 3, 2011 8:24 pm at 8:24 pm #813890TheGoqParticipantLots of female athletes scantily clad throughout the magazine.
October 3, 2011 8:32 pm at 8:32 pm #813891gezuntheitMemberThe pritzus is even on the cover itself. Just picking up the mail (or the issue lying around) can get you affected.
October 3, 2011 8:46 pm at 8:46 pm #813892🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantonegoal: were you expecting different?
October 3, 2011 9:11 pm at 9:11 pm #813893chanieMemberIt’s not only the pictures. You go to the Library and you see frum women from teenagers to grandmothers taking out the most disgusting trashy novels out there. I was there last week returning a “For Dummies” book and to my utter chagrin I see 4 Chasidshe teen girls huddled over a Peoples Magazine discussing this actor/actress. Disgusting!
October 3, 2011 9:22 pm at 9:22 pm #813894✡onegoal™ParticipantSyag- a bit.
How about car and driver.
October 3, 2011 9:29 pm at 9:29 pm #813896adorableParticipantwhy do you HAVE to read it??
October 3, 2011 9:32 pm at 9:32 pm #813897✡onegoal™ParticipantI don’t. I just want an opinion.
October 3, 2011 9:50 pm at 9:50 pm #813898☕️coffee addictParticipantOnegoal,
You still haven’t answered my question
October 3, 2011 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm #813899bptParticipantI’m not a sports fan, but if I remember correctly from my HS days, SI has less to do with the understanding of the sport, and more to do with the glorification of the players.
No comment on the Feb issue
October 4, 2011 12:36 am at 12:36 am #813901✡onegoal™Participantcoffee- Sorry, I missed it. I didn’t have anything in mind. What I meant was that if your Hashkafa is, that you would have a secular magazine that is appropriate than would you consider this appropriate too. I don’t know if there are any but it’s a theoretical question.
October 4, 2011 2:20 am at 2:20 am #813902TheGoqParticipantonegoal i sort the mail at the yeshiva where i work if sports illustrated or any magazine of the like comes across my desk in the trash it goes
October 4, 2011 2:52 am at 2:52 am #813903MiddlePathParticipantIf you really need a sports magazine to read, forget SI and go with ESPN Magazine. Better articles and less advertisements.
October 4, 2011 3:33 am at 3:33 am #813904gregaaronMemberI was just about to say what MiddlePath did. ESPN is more interesting and has much less pritzus.
