November 18, 2013 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm #987706zen3344ParticipantI always thought Vulcans and Jews had so many things in common. “Spock, son of Sarek” is just “Spock ben Sarek,” no?
November 18, 2013 9:46 pm at 9:46 pm #987707WIYMemberThe volcano are kohanim or rather their hand greeting is the same as what kohanim use when blessing the congregation.
November 18, 2013 10:04 pm at 10:04 pm #987708akupermaParticipantzen3344: In one of novels, it turns out one of Spock’s human ancestors (meaning on his mother’s side) is Jewish – remember that since most non-Jews marry goyim, having a Jewish surname is “proof” that one isn’t Jewish. By that novel’s theory, Spock would be Jewish.
The original series presented the Vulcans as being very “Jewish” (his was in part Leonard Nimoy’s doing), with (from a Hollywood perspective) super-nerdiness, bizarre customs and extreme commitment to academia.
November 18, 2013 11:30 pm at 11:30 pm #987709Sam2ParticipantNot that I’m complaining, but aren’t movie references technically against the CR’s rules?
November 19, 2013 12:33 am at 12:33 am #987710☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSam, so is lashon horah and kefirah.
November 19, 2013 5:55 pm at 5:55 pm #987711WIYMemberI said volcano but I meant Vulcans lol.
