You think we need ANOTHER magazine? We have so many already! Ami, Mishpacha, Binah, Yated, Hamodia, Zman. Why do we need another one?

Think of how it’s going to be able to compete with the already existing magazines and newspapers. What better features are you going to offer? Will it be cheaper? How do you plan on getting it off the ground? Is this just some way for you to make money, or do you have a passion for making this frum magazine? Why?

Oh yeah, try to cater to a wide range of “frum” people. Not just your type of people.

The_cool-jew: we need one with correct grammar AND interesting content. Right now the ones that you listed only fall under one or the other , not both.

No problem. I can write the news, political, and business sections. Humor section you’ll have to find someone else.

Newsweek is closing their print edition. Maybe you want to buy it :)?

I wish you hatzlacha. The only thing I can suggest is that you stand out from the other magazines. Perhaps if you have a story of a heilige Rebbitzen from our past you could show her picture. Many ladies I know, very frum ones, have told me what a shame it is that when they read fascinating articles about special women they would like to see her picture. It gives chizuk to us and our daughters. I would support such a magazine.

Thank you everyone for your posts. I would just like to clarify that I want to start a magazine for frum preschool children, similar to the highlights magazine.

Another idea I have is to combine a bunch of these magazines and compile it into a series of books where teachers can use them in their classrooms to enhance their teaching.

    mra01385: Now that’s a good idea!

The cool jew: thanks for agreeing with my idea. Now do you have any suggestions on how I can get started? Do you think the magazine would go well if it’s free, but has ads in the back? The magazine would be a pull out from the ads.

mra01385: If any great ideas come out of this forum, they are out in the open for any one of the big publishers to enjoy. Being that they have more cash, experience and resources than you do (I assume), you may want to keep quiet if your in it to make money.

Good luck mra01385, that sounds like a beautiful endeavor! I don’t have the savoir faire to make suggestions on how to accomplish your dream, but I wish you the best in achieving it.

And, although our dear ZeesKite demurs, I believe that she would be well-equipped to pen humorous content 🙂

The current large frum publications all have sections for children, so hatzlacha in competing.

Maybe you should start a magazine for preschooler who have not yet learned to read. (like me) As far as I know, there is no competition in this field.

Zeeskite: That is exactly what I want to a produce. A magazine for the not yet reader, for 3-6 yr olds.

OK, I must admit, I wrote it in jest. How’s one that can’t yet read, supposed to read?

Zeeskite: The magazine is supposed to be read together with an adult. It’s a way to spend quality time with your very young children.

Poster, mra01385, I knew that. It’s just that I was kidding when I wrote my post.
