Last Chance – Less than $65,000 To Go

If you look on their fundraising site, you can see 2 and 5 dollar donations from kids in the school.

Not sure what they’re doing, but when I was in 4th grade, if there was any remote chance that my school would close down, I would definitely not have been donating money to keep it open. Probably would have been chanting in the hallways about it.

There was a school chant to the tune of Battle Hymn of the Republic

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the closing of the school,

    We have tortured every teacher.

    We have broken every rule.

We are marching down the corridors to get the principal

    Our troops go marching on.

almost 60 years ago when my older brother brought this ditty home. He then suffered the wrath of my mother who was a school principal at the time.

CT – i remember that song as well but we sang “burning” instead of “closing”. i don’t remember my mom being too happy with us either.

I cleaned it up for this forum……………..

Older brother had his mouth washed out with soap for the original words

    You forgot the rest:

    “Glory, glory, Hallaleu_a

Teacher hit me with a ruler

I shot her in the back

    From a U.S. Army tank

And there ain’t no teacher anymore.”

Thank you, thank you. Performances Monday through Thursday nights, matinees on Sundays and Wednesdays.
