What would be the most effective method to suppress the thugs and bandits participating in the mobs rioting and looting in Minneapolis and other cities?
May 31, 2020 5:44 pm at 5:44 pm #1866133lowerourtuition11210ParticipantTanks and carpet bombs
May 31, 2020 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm #1866169HealthParticipantJoe – Ask the Israelis.
Nowadays they spray with Skunk water.May 31, 2020 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm #18661701ParticipantShoot them
May 31, 2020 7:24 pm at 7:24 pm #1866175E120ParticipantRubber bullets and fire hoses. For those actively looting, live fire.
May 31, 2020 8:20 pm at 8:20 pm #1866204Reb EliezerParticipantThis reminds me of a mashel attributed to the Rambam. A minister was praised to the king that he can perform a special accomplishment by teaching a cat to eat from a plate with a knife and fork. Another minister put a mouse in his pocket for the test. At the test, he realeases the mouse and the cat forgets all its teachings and runs after mouse. It goes after its natural instincts when the opportunity arrives. Similarly these people when they have the opportunity, forget their civility and go after their instincs.

May 31, 2020 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #1866217CuriosityParticipantUnless they have really good insurance policies, store owners should stand in front of their stores bearing arms. These looters are opportunists. They won’t lay down their lives to steal a flat screen.
May 31, 2020 9:28 pm at 9:28 pm #1866221JosephParticipantWhat do you think will happen if a jury acquits former Police Officer Derek Chauvin of the charges?
May 31, 2020 9:49 pm at 9:49 pm #18662291ParticipantThey’ll protest again.
May 31, 2020 9:55 pm at 9:55 pm #1866237JosephParticipantThey’ll riot again.

May 31, 2020 9:59 pm at 9:59 pm #18662394theRealYeshivaWorldParticipantOk so I visited TheYeshivaWorld today to catch up on all the latest rioting news….and I must say they have such a good coverage on it….soo good that they even have videos of the graffiti….and even the four lettered curses in which the graffiti so beautifully portrayed. So its great to know those curses, cuz I never really see such things, you know I live in more of a “box”…..im more of the frum type.
But I was a little confused cuz I was reading the Coffee Room Rules and it said that we should – “Understand that this site is called The Yeshiva World and use appropriate expressions. Do not try to slip in double meanings”.
So whats the deal? No double meanings – but full straight out visual meanings are allowed? And do u really stick to the name of this site? The yeshivah system is one that curses? Or is it one that shows videos of curses written on walls? I don’t know forsure but maybe that’s what the – *All rules are subject to change without notice. – means at the end of the rules…..
Anybody with some clever ideas? Most unfortunately we have no access to the news page or it’s comments.-29
June 1, 2020 1:21 am at 1:21 am #1866218JosephParticipantAre there any statistics available regarding how many of the rioters burning down buildings, looting stores, torching police cars and assaulting law enforcement officers have been arrested and charged with the crimes they’ve committed?
Or have the left-wing mayors and governors handcuffed their police and quietly ordered law enforcement to let the thugs have a day or week or rage and not arrest the rioters who we’ve seen hundreds of openly looting stores in broad daylight, torching buildings and vehicles, with the police out for donuts.

June 1, 2020 7:28 am at 7:28 am #1866303n0mesorahParticipantDear Joseph,
This is a very dangerous situation. It has to be diverted before it is stopped. The problem is, this is a national issue. If one area is controlled, another city will react even stronger.June 1, 2020 7:28 am at 7:28 am #1866304n0mesorahParticipantCall for a total lockdown because of COVID and the riots. Then have the two demonstrations suppress each other.
June 2, 2020 9:19 am at 9:19 am #1866799☕️coffee addictParticipantAre there riots in republican held cities (or even states) if so why hasn’t Ywn reported on them (except what the sheriff in Florida said before there was a riot)
June 2, 2020 10:31 am at 10:31 am #1866882n0mesorahParticipantDear Coffee,
What is a republican city? 50% Republicans? Oh, you mean El Paso. Mesa. Tulsa. Wichita.
Republican states do not have enough people per mile to violate social distancing orders.June 2, 2020 10:45 am at 10:45 am #1866890☕️coffee addictParticipantN0mesorah,
Republican cities are the ones with mayors that are Republicans
What does social distancing have to do with it anyways
June 2, 2020 12:25 pm at 12:25 pm #1866904n0mesorahParticipantDear Coffe,
No people = no gatherings no riots. The country is way way less Republican (And less Democrats.) then is let on here. Most republican mayors of cities are not republican.June 2, 2020 2:01 pm at 2:01 pm #1866999Amil ZolaParticipantJoseph, NYC reports 700 arrested. Don’t you bother to read or listen to the news? Ya know if you need to know how many were arrested in other cities you could just google, “How many rioters arrested in XXXX <city name.
June 2, 2020 2:45 pm at 2:45 pm #1867038JosephParticipantAmil, 700 aren’t even 10% of the number of thugs and criminals marauding thorough NYC looting and rioting.
June 2, 2020 3:06 pm at 3:06 pm #1867054Doing my bestParticipantSplit up the cops into groups of 50, and give each of them a zone to protect, if they catch people looting in their zone, go in and arrest them all. Tie their hands and feet. Have school buses ready to transport them to a large holding area somewhere. don’t antagonize the peaceful groups with teargas or arrests. If they’re not being violent leave them alone.
June 2, 2020 3:43 pm at 3:43 pm #1867067Amil ZolaParticipantCrimminy sakes Joseph, you asked a question and I answered it, I don’t think attendance was being taken during the riots but I’m sure you can get estimates if you use google.
June 2, 2020 7:40 pm at 7:40 pm #1867198Doing my bestParticipantAnother option: have 30,000 cops/national guard/military police flood the streets the moment curfew starts and just have them arrest everyone and hold them for a day. Game over.
June 2, 2020 10:03 pm at 10:03 pm #1867246chacham1ParticipantIf the American police would follow the lead of the yassam police in Israel much of the looting problem would be solved… Too much weakness on the part of the police allows them to just let loose and destroy cities and businesses which were already almost destroyed during corona…
June 3, 2020 12:15 am at 12:15 am #1867267June 3, 2020 7:38 am at 7:38 am #1867324n0mesorahParticipantAnybody here ever been part of a riot? It does not work this way. You have to force them to give up.
June 3, 2020 10:20 am at 10:20 am #1867369charliehallParticipantI have never rioted but I was an eyewitness to the Greekfest riots in Virginia Beach in 1989. It was scary. The police, almost all white, inflamed the situation and made things much worse. Miraculously, nobody died, and the businesses that were damaged mostly had insurance and were able to rebuild for the next season. It also helped that the Democratic nominee for Governor, who was black, and the head of the Virginia NAACP, also black, didn’t escalate the rhetoric. (I happened to run into the NAACP head a few weeks later; he was very interested in hearing a first hand account from a white bystander. I thanked him for his attempts to de-escalate. He wanted to know whether I had seen any KKK activity because he had heard reports that there had been some; I told him that I had not seen any.) The Republican nominee for Governor did escalate, and he lost the general election that fall. There were no additional riots.
June 3, 2020 10:21 am at 10:21 am #1867371charliehallParticipantOnce riots get started they are almost impossible to stop. And the consequences can last for generations. I lived in a part of Baltimore that had been bombed out in the 1968 riots twenty five years later. Most of the area was still vacant lots and it was considered to be a major economic boom when a single fast food restaurant opened up. I went back a few years ago; there is still one synagogue in the neighborhood and it is growing! In fact they just built an eruv a few months ago, which means that New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington all now have eruvim in their downtowns!
June 3, 2020 10:52 am at 10:52 am #1867415rationalParticipantFrom the comments above, it appears that the violence and looting have not affected the Jewish community. All the comments are opinions from the outside looking in. Is my impression correct?
June 3, 2020 11:59 am at 11:59 am #1867434JosephParticipantRational: The largest Jewish community in the world lives in one of the cities the riots are taking place in. And many many more Jews live in other cities with riots.
June 10, 2020 7:43 pm at 7:43 pm #1870127n0mesorahParticipantDear Rational,
It seems you are correct. Though I saw pictures of boarded up Jewish stores.June 29, 2020 8:07 am at 8:07 am #1877602n0mesorahParticipantDear Ratiional,
It seems we were incorrect. In LA there was looting of Jewish businesses, and eight shuls were defaced. No injuries reported. This has been spun into all American Jews are under attack by the Israeli papers. (Surprise!) The Forward and The Jewish Press reported on it.June 29, 2020 2:26 pm at 2:26 pm #1877766HealthParticipantAZ -“Joseph, NYC reports 700 arrested”
It’s called Crime & Punishment. If there is No Punishment, what is the point of Arresting Perps?!?
June 29, 2020 7:55 pm at 7:55 pm #1877848n0mesorahParticipantDear Health,
The main purpose to arrest people is to stop the public crime/disorder/threat/disturbance/corruption for the time being. Punishment is not a solution. Even in Iran.June 30, 2020 3:35 am at 3:35 am #1877975HealthParticipantnOmesorah -“The main purpose to arrest people is to stop the public crime/disorder/threat/disturbance/corruption for the time being. The main purpose to Punish people is to stop the public crime/disorder/threat/distubance/corruption for the time being that they are in Jail. The arrest is Not solving Anything!
June 30, 2020 3:06 pm at 3:06 pm #1878169n0mesorahParticipantDear Health,
-Person stands in the street blocking traffic. Arrested and released. Problem solved for the time being.
-Person drunk walking around harassing others. Arrested and released. Problem solved for the time being.
-Person defacing city property. Arrested and released. Problem solved for the time being. This list could go on, but you get the point . Or, you would like to push the issue further. So go ahead. I will answer.

“If there is No Punishment, what is the point of Arresting Perps?!?”June 30, 2020 7:24 pm at 7:24 pm #1878273Yoel BidenParticipantThis is the wrong conversation to be had. We are not lacking ways and means to effectivly stop the riots. We are lacking the votes to remove the pathetic, arrogant politicians who allow it to happen. VOTE REPBULICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and p.s. a lil prayer goes a long way.July 1, 2020 1:56 pm at 1:56 pm #1878523n0mesorahParticipantDear Yoel,
This is a common mistake. The majority of Americans have no problem voting for Republicans to run our cities. Just find some decent candidates who are interested in sticking to city politics. Look at the Republicans who lost city elections.July 1, 2020 1:57 pm at 1:57 pm #1878517n0mesorahParticipantDear Health,
