    how is it muttar l’halacha for a jewish CD to play a goyish tune with all the copyright laws out there, what happened to dina d’malchusa (and they tell us not to copyright)

    but that song is sooooo old there probably is a heter for it (copyright is only for a certain amount of years) i’m talking about recent tunes

    I believe parodies are legal. Tunes aren’t protected under intellectual property, just lyrics.

    How about etz chayim hi that many shuls sing? The second half of the tune from the 1960s movie Les Bicyclettes de Belsize sounds an awful lot like it.

    I don’t think that’s the correct word

    I know what you’re referring to, sort of what Uncle Moishy does, however I think I learned in my Legal Political and Ethical dimension of business that you can only do it as a parody
