    The first telescopes appeared in 1608 (wikipedia), and were quickly improved. Our current telescopes are named after Kepler and Galileo, both early 1600s scientists and discoverers.

    2. Are you actually trying to make the claim that without the telescope people would not realize that HKBH can see what goes on on the Earth?

    No. Please reread the quoted CC. The heilige CC is saying that Hashem caused its invention to demonstrate to us foolish measly sinning Earthlings that just as we can now see into the heavens, al achas kama v’kama Hashem Yisborach can see every little detail of what we mere Earthlings are doing here. And this was necessary due to our sins and the blindness we may have developed towards accepting information from those who deny Providence.

    At least that is my take.

    Actually, I heard this was about the invention of the telegraph (I heard this from the mouth of a Talmud of the Chofetz Chaim). He may have said it about other inventions as well.

    I heard it was radio. The telegraph was already an old invention by the time the Chofetz Chaim was a Rosh Yeshiva and by the time of his death television wasn’t yet readily availible.

    Of course HaShem causes inventions to be invented at the time they are invented! I’m surprised anyone here could think otherwise.

    As far as the reasons for HaShem’s ways, I am not able to speculate.

    I’ve heard this concept, but surely the Chofetz Chaim didn’t use the term validate – Hashem doesn’t need our validation. It was we who benefited so greatly from these inventions to better imagine and internalize concepts such as ayin roah, ozen shoma’as, etc.
