OH!!! V’hamavin yavin… And understand understood

It’s like the game of telephone. When I googled your second to last post, all these “moon” related results came up.

    Word.

It was started because I was trying to get the attention of a specific person (who has not yet responded). Not sure how clear I made that in the OP.

Ahhh… Thank you for the clarification kapusta.

Yea I had no clue. I still don’t know whose attention you’re trying to attract and how exactly. Maybe it’s an insider thing.

    Anyway thanks for explaining.

    B’Atzlacha 🙂

“V’hameivin yavin” literally means “and the one who understands

will understand.” The phrase is used to indicate that something

is not being said outright, but those who are meant to get the

message will know what is intended.

Sorry, I didn’t do a great job of it in the OP. Amen, thanks!

Anyway, person who’s attention I’m trying to attract: I’m trying to attract your attention…

How is the person supposed to know that it’s them?

No big deal here. I was having difficulty reaching someone and I wanted to let them know – which accomplished B’H. Sorry, some of my posts weren’t worded well (or at all), because I did them in a rush.

Lf, am I missing something other than a joke in response?

Oh no. It’s little me who’s missing it. Plenty of it.

I just thought you wanted my attention, for whatever reason. So I attentioned!!

Maybe kapusta is outing herself IRL to someone. They had a conversation about the CR last Shabbos. One of her friends talked about how she’s always on the CR.

    “No way!” said kapusta.

    “Way way” said RL friend.

Kapusta said that she can prove that she’s on the CR way more. The RL friend wasn’t comfortable sharing her username with kapusta to prove it. So kapusta said that she’ll post a new thread to show her just how much presence she has in the CR.

With a banner in the sky, like in last week’s parsha, kapusta created this thread where she is merging the two worlds into one.

    Amen.

Lf, The person I was trying to reach got my message but thank you for the attentive response!

Lightbrite, I guess thats a variation of what happened. That has actually happened several times though and I got a kick out of reading it as you wrote it. Btw, I really enjoy your posts, and a belated welcome 🙂

I’m just curious – how many posters, if any, know other posters?

    kapusta: Yay yays 🙂

lilmod ulelamaid: Thus far for all that I know you guys could be a fig newton of my imagination… Though it sounds super cool to know a CR-er IRL. B”H someday.

    Do you know anyone?

    #1193222

not that I know of. Most people I know don’t use internet, and the ones that do would be unlikely to post here.

I have tried figuring out if any of the posters here could be anyone I know, but I’ve ruled out most possibilities.

A lot of people are easy to rule out. For example, one poster mentioned that he is an engineer and his wife is a marriage therapist. I don’t know anyone who fits that description. I know enough about you to know that I can’t possibly know you. Amongst other things you mentioned a dog – that would rule out practically everyone I know :).

There is one poster who said that she thinks she knows who I am, and that I don’t know her but I know her friends. It’s funny because when I was at a certain friend for Shabbos recently, she started telling me about one of her cousins and in a lot of ways she sounded like this poster. There were a few things that I didn’t think fit, but it’s not impossible that it’s her.

It was really funny though because as she was telling me about her cousin and certain things sounded like Gofish, I was about to ask her if her cousin is Gofish and then I realized I can’t ask her that :). She isn’t the type of person I’d be comfortable telling about the CR.

I always envision meeting CRer’s in real life. The truth is it would be awkward, because I have certain images of people, and if I were to meet them in real life, they would probably seem very different. I do feel like in some ways, we are all playing a part here, even those of us who are very straightforward and honest.

So interesting! I just picture half the people living in NY and then some in Israel. Then what, today someone said that he/she lives in London. That was news to me.

“There is one poster who said that she thinks she knows who I am, and that I don’t know her but I know her friends. It’s funny because when I was at a certain friend for Shabbos recently, she started telling me about one of her cousins and in a lot of ways she sounded like this poster. So this had to have been in Israel then? It’s like you get to be undercover.

You have a good memory. I think when I first started posting you referred to me as a guy. I was super flattered because I interpreted it as that my words meant something. Or at least someone heard my voice.

Then I outed myself as a woman, which was nice because that’s when I started feeling more comfortable being myself. Speaking from my heart. And head.

I don’t know even know how I ended up here. I was reading posts for a while and then one day I just jumped into the water.

For some reason when I click on your name, it goes to an error page. So I cannot even see how long you’ve been here for, or your location, etc. It works when I click on other names though. Maybe you’re in an alternative dimension.

someone else asked about that once, and someone said it has to do with the space b/w my two names. But I think that I have been able to click on it when I tried – that’s how I found out how long I’d been here – 🙂 I know I joined in the summer – probably sometime in July.

Everyone thought I was a guy at first, but I let them know right away that I’m a girl. I’ve sometimes wondered if I should have let everyone continue thinking I’m a guy.

I think I joined right after I started reading posts. I think you joined shortly after me, no? When did you join?

Yepp I must have joined after you; I joined August 3, 2016.

Remember when you said something about (correct me if I am wrong please) not seeing how it would make sense for someone to be on CR after he gets married if he has a billion things to do and his wife needs help around the house, etc… and how CR is a right now thing but maybe in the future this time will be spent with family or etc… ?

Well it’s so interesting because then I noticed that some posters have been posting for 7 years. It’s closer to a decade than not. Or if someone was 24 now that person is 31. Where am I going to be in 7 years? Is CR going to be a regular thing in my life from now on?

It’s so weird. This is the first time that I’ve joined an online forum thing. But I like it. B”H

LB- I’ve noticed that too. But I think that some posters may have taken breaks and weren’t consistently here for 7 years.

I guess if people work on line, they need to take breaks. If you are going to surf the web, it is definitely better that people spend time here than elsewhere.

Hopefully, it is not a major part of their lives, and is just something to take a break with.

Yes, spaces in a person’s name must be replaced with dashes, e.g.:
