how does tired go to red? How does red go to beach? how does beach go to clinic? how does clinic go to Wednesday?February 2, 2017 1:11 pm at 1:11 pm #1227955
If you’re on antibiotics
And the pharmacist tells you to drink lots of water and put on sunblock if you go outside because you’re going to burn more easily
And you were only out for like 10-15min with a big floppy hat so you didn’t put on sunblock
You get sunburned
Your face is red
You’re dehydrated and tired
Which totally makes you think twice about going to the beach during the day
Which is located next to the animal clinic
And you don’t know when to go to the clinic because the beach one is only open on Friday and the weekend and maybe you can go Wednesday to the other one
And then you think that you do want to go to the beach one so maybe you can go later when it is less hot on Friday
But that’s yatzar hara talking and even early Friday is already pushing it close to Shabbat.February 2, 2017 1:15 pm at 1:15 pm #1227956
I was telephoning from LU’S last post with the word “drugs”February 2, 2017 2:36 pm at 2:36 pm #1227957
[Miraculous update: Remember that clinic by the beach that is only open Friday, Saturday, & Sunday?
Turns out that for the first time in their few years of being open, this week they announced that they are now open Thursday to Monday.
I just found this out 10 minutes ago.
Just an example of how Hashem helps you fight your battles for good.

“Friend Bracha who goes by Bar”
What does that mean? That her nickname was is bar?
“She was from Jerusalem
Saw her on my bday”
I think that each word is supposed to connect to the word immediately preceding. So the word after “bar” should connect to “bar” and not to bracha, and the word after “Jerusalem” should connect to “Jerusalem” and not to Bracha.
Sorry to be so nitpicky, but aren’t you glad to know I’m reading your posts? 🙂February 8, 2017 3:33 am at 3:33 am #1227978
Glad? Of course 🙂
Yes her nickname was Bar
…I thought that this was a thing like a train of thought where one word ties into the other.
My mind is going in that direction. Bar. Jerusalem. I was in Jerusalem on my bday. Bday of the trees.
I associated Jerusalem with my birthday
Birthday with the Jewish New Year for the Trees which reminds me of a tree birthday because we’re all like trees
…. Telephone happens in our heads. My head goes as such.
If you wanted me to think of what I think you or others would think of next, then that would be several thoughts down the line using logic and not free association.February 8, 2017 3:37 am at 3:37 am #1227979
Treif is your reaction. It’s subjective. A more linear response could have been exercise. However, it sounds like you viewed it from your lense.
Treif again is subjective. Maybe saying that love is treif because it’s the whole secular romanticism. However, someone else could see love and say Mom or happy, etc.February 8, 2017 3:39 am at 3:39 am #1227980
How does Tu B’Shvat go with Freezer opens? Maybe that would relate to winter but that doesn’t technically relate to Tu B’Shvat.
Then there is an even more personalized one with…

Kay thanks Meno —Point made: LU’s response was based on her association from one word to the next.
The OP “not a mod”‘s directions:
“For those who don’t know how this game works, you post the first thing that comes to mind when you see the previous word (or phrase).”
That’s what I did. I’m in defense-mode because no one can tell me what I was thinking and what my next thought should have been.
I was honest. Said what came to mind. The first thing.
Played by the rules. Honestly I don’t have to explain why one thought led to the other.
However, I did so as a courtesy.
In the past, I’ve been told IRL that what I said was “random.” Yet when after I explained the train of thought, then the person sees that there is a connection.
Nothing is random.
So maybe this telephone game can be a lesson in emuna that everything is coordinated by Hashem.

LB – that wasn’t what I said. I didn’t say that you can’t have your own associations. All I said was that the associations are supposed to be with the word right beforehand.
You originally wrote that the associations were all based on the original word as opposed to the word immediately preceding.
This is what you originally wrote:
“SHE was from Jerusalem
Saw HER on my bday”
So the words were NOT associated with the word right before. They were all associated with the original word. The point of broken telephone is supposed to be that each word is associated with the word before and not with the original word. Otherwise, there is no point to the game.
Afterwards, you wrote that you associated Jerusalem with your birthday, but that was not what you had originally written, or at least not what it sounded like to me.
It’s really not important. I’m just writing this because I wanted you to understand what I meant. You seem to think I was attacking your associations, and I wanted you to realize that I’m not. Obviously you can have your own associations – I was not trying to imply that you can’t. Hope that’s clear now. 🙂
I’m not really in the CR anymore – just came back to clear that up.February 9, 2017 4:33 am at 4:33 am #1227985
