I was quite surprised to see a thread from the CR printed in the Country Yossi magazine – chanukka issue. I looked with excitement and a bit of fear to see if any posts were from me. And my first reaction was ‘whooo! at least i didnt post on that thread!’
Which thread was published?
I’m confused. What would you be embarrassed to appear there that you were happy to post here in the first place? Its not as if you use your real name. Do you?
Could anyone indicate which thread?
I don’t care what they write about me, as long as they spell my name right.
I also was surprised and disturbed.
when I speak to someone or write something, I naturally take into account the person or audience I am addressing. While it true that these posts are open to the public, I am sure that a feel for the particular venue affected my choices of what to discuss, as well as the tone of voice and wording. I am not from the most frequent posters and I will be posting even less often now.

This is what I’ve been saying all along- the cozy atmosphere here is a mirage. Between stalkers/harassers,trolls, and now the thread appearing in print, one really needs to be careful here. I find it a good thing, in that the knowledge that the bittul zman may end up in print may cut down on troll posts. Furthermore, it might bring in fresh blood into the CR, creating more invigorating discussions and diluting the trolls.

Lifelines article about a kolle guy and his inetrnet addiction. YWN made a prominent appearance. He then stopped going on the internet and it make a big difference.
This months Country Yossi magazine honored by thread “Are Birthday Celebrations UnJewish” with running it in the monthly.

Looking back at the posts written here 3 months ago, I see that some ppl are upset that it showed up in Country Yossi. Why? You’re writing on a public forum, you are anonymous anyway. Besides you should be careful of what you write anyway.

If someone is upset it might be because even though we are posting anonymously on a public forum, we expect it to be public ONLY on that forum. There are people who read Country Yossi who might NOT be in the CR, so it might feel to some like an invasion of privacy of sorts. Bottom line, don’t post anything you would be ashamed of.
