    You have a good argument, but that ruins the whole “4” theme of Pesach.

    I agree. They need love and support. They are going through a hard time. We sometimes want to fix things quickly, but we need patience. If we show them we are there for them, they will hopefully come around.

    It would be great if the fifth son was always welcome at the table and in a loving home he would be but that is not always the case, often he is chased away by sanctimony and hypocrisy and yes even hatred.

    It’s for Eliyahi Hanavi. There is a fifth expression of freedom to go with it but I can’t remember what it is. But the kos shel Eliyahu is officially the fifth cup

    @Murphy

    Who said all the sons were brothers?

    Perhaps mum and dad will still get their beauty sleep.

    Of course they’re brothers, but that doesn’t mean that they all disagree.

    notasheep: There are officially 4 cups and 4 L’shonos of Geulah. The fifth cup for Eliyahu Hanavi is a cute Minhag that started relatively recently (I think well after the time of the Rishonim).
