Hmmm…dress up as Ahmadinejad with a noose wound (LIGHTLY) around the neck.

Dress up as a wannabe Ku Klutz Kartel – wear a tinfoil Yerushalmi bekeshe over your brightest color dress and high heels and carry a sign like “Jews Out Of Palestine, TX!” or “We Have No Connection with Judaism or the Jewish People!”

I think the teachers would love the Ahmadinejad idea but somehow I don’t think you can pull it off :). It is more for a guy who usually shaves and would prepare by not shaving for a few days…and not showering for a month!

    Haha true!

Something with tinfoil can be funny and easy to do; maybe a tinfoil burqa or chador and a sign marked “Approved by the Mishmeres haTznius”! I think the school would LOVE that!

    #999536

well, I saw people dressed up as a shabbos table, tzeddaka boxes, cowboy, arabs,

or you can dress up as a shoemaker and have the posuk, “kol zeman shehaner dolek…” (i think thats it…) it was really cute…

if you want to do something with your friends go international and each be a different country or something….

or you can always wear your shirt backwards…

    #999538

    Asdfghjkl: RIGHT!!!! For sure!!! Lol!

Havesome: those are cute ideas but I need something funny!!!!! And original!! Once me and my friend got costumes like what the characters wear in great adventures…it was so cool!!

I still say go for the Iranian or Afghan woman (chador or burqa) but in tinfoil and with a funny sign about tznius…maybe something like “School Uniform for 5770”.

I admire my sister, When it comes to costumes she takes her kids to the store and she lets them be whatever they want. There are so many children that have to be cows, lemons, flowers, bears etc…just to match their parents theme, or so that their mothers can win the originality contest. Her kids are thrilled with this setup, one is a policeman, the next one is a fancy lady, then u have a Kohen Gadol etc. not so original but the kids are so proud!!

Ya know what I did as a Bochur? I’m embarrassed to admit it but I bought a real live sheep and went around with it. I was dressed as a Shepard! Was so cool but I couldn’t figure out why everyone was looking at me…

Someone I know once dressed up as a shower – they draped a shower curtain around them and hung a towel on a bar (paper towel rolls)and had soap and shampoo and a loofah – it was really funny.

I know someone who dressed up with random colored shirt, hat, pats etc. and when he was asked what he is he said he’s a disguised polar bear- you just had to laugh.

another simple funny idea- dress up as a mekubal- with a robe, cane, head bent and mumble under your breath.

this goes back a coupla years…….

one year a friend and i did serial killers/cereal killers we took 2 bohes of cereal punched holes at the to and attached string and the shoulders to make it hang over us like a bilboard then we splattered red paint to look like blood and bought these huge grey plastic machetes and stuck them into the box. we also wore masks like robbers. get it!!! cereal killers!!

another year we played on the village people and we called them the shtetl people it’s a jewishifyed version of the village people..police man, construction, indian, biker, sailor,

or you could dress up as one of your teachers

On the topic of strange purim costumes- they make lenses that make you look like you have cat eyes- (yellow and weird shape). So one purim a group came to us and a few guys were wearing them- my younger sister ,(at that time she was around 5) got so terrified…. it was very funny.

    Kee-Moo v’kebloo

    dress up as a cow/milk etc…

    kee -in yiddish – cow

    moo – is obvious 🙂

Just be careful that those you are with realize that you are frum yidden. This was said in another thread, but once a group of bochurim came around collecting right after the night megillah. They were dressed like bummy hoodlums (ripped jeans and shirts, dirty, unruly look overall) and were approaching a family’s door. The family was pulling up in front of their house and saw these “goyim” hanging out on their front yard. The family was so scared! They thought the house was being robbed so the father warned his kids and wife to stay inside and went out to check- he was so nervous and worried for his life. He was so angry that these bochurim had no tact. Dont dress like that, especially if goyim dress like that in your neighborhood, and all the more so at night. Just a word of caution.

If you have two kids, they can dress up as two containers of milk, one cholov yiaroel and one cholov stam. 😉

havesomeseichel- we had a very similar story. Purim is not an opportunity to look like goyim

On another note: girls dressing up as boys and vise versa. Sometimes it’s funny…. and sometimes it’s not.

My sister’s friend did it one Purim. Went over to my father to “collect”- my father naturally wanted to shake hands and lean over to hear a d’var torah… was a pretty close call (she was wearing a beketcha so was all “tzniyusdig”)

Then…. I once saw some guy hugging a girl in the middle of the street. The guy looked completely drunk so I really wasn’t sure WHAT was goin down… well, I went to have a closer look, and witnessed the wig coming off in the process of the hug.

Another story- a girl was dressed as a chassidish boy and was walking along. A group of drunk boys grab her/him and start dancing. You’ve never seen someone that panic stricken in your life…

i also have trouble with pple dressing up as the opposite gender, to many possibilities for something to go wrong.

    #999571
