Sign up now and we’ll send you an active combat soldier’s name soon. http://theshmiraproject.com/
Israel is in a state of war with many of its neighbors, and even the ones with peace treaties have tremendous political turmoil and instability. Right now combat soldiers are in clear and present danger. These soldiers frequently go into hostile areas: patrolling Israel’s borders from terrorism abroad, and preempting terrorism from within.
The Hebrew word “shmira” (pronounced shmeerah) means “guarding” or “protecting”. In modern Hebrew, shmira also means guard duty.
The Shmira Project is a person to person match that everyone can do. It follows the ancient practice of pairing physical effort with spiritual effort. The families of soldiers enjoy the reassurance of spiritual support for their children. Participants enjoy knowing that they bring about unity and connectedness. There are absolutely no fees.

July 24, 2014 2:17 am at 2:17 am #1026256gramMemberThe online site works well. I signed up and got a soldier’s name and I entered my son’s name Pinchas Shalom ben Yocheved Esther (who is in Gaza) and I got a call from a distant relative in a different state who happened to have gotten his name(this is truly yad hashem).
What a great way of all of us being connected.
May all our chayalim come home safely.
July 24, 2014 4:27 am at 4:27 am #1026257YW Moderator-29 👨💻ModeratorGram – I will add your son’s name to the name of the soldier I was paired up with. May Hashem keep Pinchas Shalom safe and healthy, as well as the rest of klal Yisroel, and bring an end to this Galus.

July 25, 2014 6:00 am at 6:00 am #1026259The Best BubbyParticipantGram, I too, shall daven for your dear son, Pinchas Shalom ben Yocheved Esther, and all the chayalim and the list of chayalim wounded in battle. I am also paired up with another chayal.
May all chayalim and shevuiim come home B’EH briiem ve shelamim le shalom imminently!
Besurot tovot and may all our heartfelt tefillot be answered swiftly and affirmatively! Omein Kein Yehe Razon!
July 25, 2014 12:43 pm at 12:43 pm #1026260porParticipantAll the davening is very important. I want to suggest two segulos that everyone can do almost all the time and which might well save lives.
1) Saying the name of Avraham Avinu’s mother is said to protect from danger — Amaslai bas Karnevo. Rabbonim have told me that it can be said even in unclean places and with an unclear body or hands.
2) Before Lt. Birenbaum, ?”?, went to fight in WWII, Rav Hutner, ??”?, told him to say Psalm 91 and in particular verse 7: ???? ???? ??? ????? ????? ???? ?? ???, A thousand will fall from your side, and ten thousand will not approach your right side.
?? ????? ????? ?? ??? – every Jew has a part in every other Jew, so if one person is doing these things at a moment when one some other Jew needs the protection it can help. Please spread these ideas as widely as possible, the more people who do it can only help.
July 25, 2014 12:50 pm at 12:50 pm #1026261oomisParticipantWe have already learned of tragic losses to Klal Yisroel. A friend of mine lost his great-nephew. May Hashem watch over all of our precious children and keep them safe as they fight this milchama for which they never asked. All our tfilos are with our chayalim and their families, who are also all OUR family.
July 27, 2014 4:23 am at 4:23 am #1026262gramMemberThanks “The Best Bubby”, your tefillot are so appreciated.
