He is a Talmid of Rav Heinoch Leibowitz Zatzal of Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim. I heard many of his shiurim his Hashkafos are mainstream yeshivish-normal. He’s very normal. Listen to a shiur for a few minutes you will see.

He understands a lot about human psychology and makes very important points in all his shiurim. Its different than anything I have listened to and I will tell you he will give you a new perspective on many areas of Yiddishkiet.

different topics, he’s in the middle on the left of the center point. not overly intellectual type speeches.

The best part is that the bumper stickers are magnets, not stickers. So when you buy a new car, you can take the magnet with you.

“he’s in the middle on the left of the center point”

Does this mean he is 75% away from the extreme right?

Yeah what he says is deep but presented in a very down to earth way.

I dont think he is that far to the left somewhere in the 40’s.

I don’t think he is left at all?

What does he say that makes you think that?

op said what type of person is he- meaning am i going to be hearing from a MO rabbi or a chassidishe rebbe type?

I said “he’s in the middle on the left of the center point” that doesnt make him a leftist.

I havent followed him in several years so I dont have exact examples but thats just my feeling. I dont think its insulting or something most people would disagree with.

The Rabbi is normal. Hes not extreme. Stop with this left right business. Hes very down the middle. As far as I can tell he is also pro college and working so maybe that puts him to the left or down the middle. Now im confused whats the middle? Can that be the middle?

Rabbi Shafier is a wonderful, normal down to earth person. A Talmid Chacham, a talmid muvhak of R’Henoch Lebowitz Z’l whose hashkafos he imparts. I remember him from yeshiva as one of the “older bachurim”, also always approachable and willing to discuss anything with you. He was also smart enough and honest enough to know when he didnt have an answer and take you to the one of the Rabbeim or even the Rosh Yeshiva if necessary.

I love his shiurim. He really has a fresh perspective that I dont get from some other speakers out there. He doesnt say the same stuff you hear everywhere else.

WIY. Thats because there is only one Chofetz Chaim (I’m including all CC branches under this one umbrella).

The way I remember it, (haven’t listened to any in a while), he seemed (as other people said) pretty “middle”. I think it was more like bringing something into every day life, not like other speakers “we need to improve in such and such area” style. He has stories and anecdotes that he adds in which makes it very enjoyable.

    I definitely recommend it.

It isn’t necessarily that Rabbi Shafier is expounding any particular point of direction. His hashkofos clearly follow those of his yeshiva, RSA, and it’s blessed Rosh Yeshiva zt”l.

The Shmuz was originally started to provide a yeshivish type learning environment for yeshiva bochurim who are now part of the workforce. And I will not elaborate on whether or not yeshiva guys should be working or not, because that point is irrevelant here.

The shiurim are excellent, very listenable. My personal favorite, and I certainly haven’t listened to all of them, is the one about genevah.

good.jew is right. You have to stand by what you believe in. People in the middle are just ridiculous.

It is very interesting and easy to read! It’s a must to own! BPT- you for sure need to get your hands on it….

if the shmuz was any good why would they have to advertise so heavily ? its litteraly being shoved down our throats, and eyes and ears…

    A. Because they are not selling a product, they are providing a free service.

    B. Successful companies are the one’s who advertise heavily.

    C. Most of the advertisement is consumer’s advertising for them. Like the bumper magnets. (I have one!)

first of all, thanks you popa for clarifying those few concepts. I think that the small companies are the ones that have no money or resources to advertise heavily. I would also like to add that once you start reading the book and listening to the cd’s you will notice that they are good for everyone and can be applied to everyone in their own way. all you have to do is read one chapter and you will see what a change it will make in your life! try it, it can’t hurt!
