Why the older one gets, does time feel like it goes quicker and quicker?

Because each unit of time represents a shorter portion of your life.

    For example…

When you’re ten, a year represents 1/10th of your life (actually less since you don’t remember the first few years). However, when you’re forty, it represents a much smaller portion (1/40th).

Cuz we get busier? Or because we don’t want time should pass so quickly.(We don’t count the seconds- when am I finally turning 10!!)

Good question. I think that it’s because the older we get, the less time we know we have left. It’s all relative. The same school year that drags on for our children, goes by much too quickly when we know we will have to figure out what to do with them during the summer! And WHAT????? It’s almost Pesach AGAIN???????

So your saying, that, the mind

adjusts to the amount of time

    it’ alive?

When you look towards the future you have no idea what it holds, it is vast like a huge ocean. But the past happened already and its like a book where you can rifle through the pages or just glimpse at a summary. You can think back and remember so many things so quickly as if time passed so quickly. Wasn’t it just yesterday that you learned how to use the computer? Wasn’t it just yesterday that your child was born? Nope it was 33 years ago……really, I remember it like it just happened. My how time flies. But…if you are thinking about your child’s bar mitzvah in 3 years, or graduation, or your 25th anniversary when you are married for 15 years it seems like forever away.

    I don’t have an answer

But, Wolfs seems to make sense

The Mind can’t know how much time

it has left to live, but it knows

how much it has already lived,

so it adjusts to the time it has

    already had, with each passing

    moment.

So, when a person is young, the

mind has not had so much time

alive, and the time units see to

last forever, but as a person

    gets older, his mind adjusts

with time, and he gets used to

Time, so it doesn’t feel so long

Aries’ answer is the truth. Another idea is that there are more time markers when you are young. Every recess is counted down to, every grade is a new life. Later, time is marked by the stages of children. Later yet, with grandchildren, there are almost no new markers, other than becoming a great great grand parent.

As proof to my point, when we think in terms of ourselves ten years is like a day, but when we think in terms of our small children a year is indeed a very long time.

Cuz we’re not in school anymore, dreading life by the minute. . .

Also, we are taller so we can see over the top of a day and it doesn’t seem as big. (That was poetic but in linear form)

Because everything is predicteble, we already know that it comes snow in the winter, blossums in spring so there is much less excitment.

Life is like a bath…The longer you’re in it the more wrinkles you get.
