What do you want to tell yourself in five years from now?

This thread is an opportunity to record your words to your future self. You can return to it in the next months, year, and years to see how you’ve grown.

When I was in first grade, my class did a time capsule that we got to take home after graduating 5th grade.

I don’t remember what happened to my time capsule.

I do remember how special it was to get a message from my past self. An inner child’s whisper.

    Thanks

i want to tell myself that klal yisroel finally woke up to reality & did teshuva together as a nation so mashiach can finally come & the endless tzaros hitting klal yisroel can finally come to an end.

i’m hoping to come back to read this in 5 years in yerushalyim with the bais Hamikdosh rebuilt

    help make this happen

    MA,

I think you misunderstood the question.

I want to remind myself that hakol le tovah.

No one lives forever in olam hazeh and it’s okay when we don’t have something anymore. That’s life. And it’s all from Hashem for the good.

And to take care of myself first.

    Thank you

Dear Little Froggie (or whatever s/n you go with) of The Future,

You probably don’t recognize me, that little immature person of five years ago. The lofty heights you’ve attained in Avodas HaShem, the refinement of character you molded yourself into, are all a tribute to the vast Hasmadah in learning, Davening and Avodas HaShem you worked and strove at. I’m actually proud you don’t recognize little me, and all I stand for. Keep up the good work.

In deference to your honor, ?????? ??????, please send regards to your Einaklach…

“Do something today that your future self will thank you for.”

I hope that when reading this in five years, I can thank myself for the (AT LEAST) 1,825 that I did to become a better me!

    #1208846

I think you left out a word there. (The 1,825 what?)

    Randomex: Here are possible theories…

    1) Memorizing the first 1,825 digits in pi

    2) Performing 1,825 mitzvot of a specific type, such as mitzvot pertaining to loving one’s fellow as oneself, or being really considerate in window cleaning

    3) Observing 1,825 Shabbots (includes all in ezapie’s lifetime)

    4) Spending $1,825 on donating $1 to 1,825 charities

    5) Allowing 1,825 cars to drive first when both ezapie and the other driver arrived at their Stop Signs at the mutually-perceived same time

Randomex: I was referring to the quote that I mentioned above- so that’s 1,825 ‘somethings’ that my future self will thank me for. Whatever they might be. I chose that number since the OP said it should be something that I’d be reading in five years from now (5 [years] x365 [for AT LEAST one a day]= 1,825 ‘somethings’. The truth is, I should have wrote 1,826, since there will be 1 leap year within these 5 years!

Lightbrite: those are all good suggestions for what the ‘somethings’ might be. BYW, do you know how many years 1,825 Shabbatot equal to? It’s (ONLY) 35.09…. years.

oh, I just realized that it’s the amount of days in 5 solar years! (not counting February 29, 2020.) I thought it was a random number.

ezapie, you mean you’re not 35?

You don’t look a day older than 19.

However, since you have such a respectable equation in your subtitle, I figured you were more mature in age.

    I guess I’m wrong.

“ezapie, you mean you’re not 35?”

LB, I thought you meant his whole life-time. Maybe that’s what he thought you meant too. Or maybe he did mean he is much younger than 35 as you seemed to think he meant.

That’s how I understood it originally. That’s why I wrote “(ONLY)”. But from LB’s response it seems that she meant …lifetime, thus far. BARUCH HASHEM!

    LB and lilmod ulelamaid

If I wrote ONLY then why would you think that I’m under 35? By writing ONLY, I meant that it is a short amount of time. I thought it implied the opposite of what you derived from it. It’s all relative. Here’s to clarify: for a twenty year old, one month is “ONLY” (roughly, because we are not counting leap years) 1/240th of his life, but for a two-month-old it’s half his life!

**May we all use every precious minute to its fullest!!**

Ezaspie, it could have been sarcasm. I think that’s how LB understood it.

Just for the record, that was not what I had thought you meant (since I understood LB the way you understood her, that it meant lifetime, I also assumed that’s what you meant), but once I saw that LB had meant something different (years until now) and that she assumed that you understand that and were answering accordingly, I figured out how she read that into your words, and acknowledged the possibility that that was what you meant.

But apparently, I had understood you correctly. But I had misunderstood LB’s initial post.

ezaspie: It was a compliment. I was saying that you looked young. Not a day older than 35.

I assumed that you were at least 35.

For the record, yes you do look much younger. Must be good genes 🙂
