Can someone please give me more information about it? I really rather prefer to go there because i want to be in a frum environment?
December 11, 2016 4:48 am at 4:48 am #1198489Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI don’t know anything about it, but I am glad you got the “r” in your subtitle. That had been bothering me.
Also am glad to hear that you want to be in a Frum environment. Hope it works out!
Before you switch, you may want to check that their pharmacy school really is a Frum environment (or at least better than where you are now). A friend of mine is in Touro Graduate School and she said there are hardly any Frum girls in her program.
December 11, 2016 5:10 am at 5:10 am #1198490tzniusMemberlilmod ulelamaid – Its the most accrediated best Jewish school that i know of. Its fully accrediated and non jews can go there as well just its mostly for jews which is probably why its fully accrediated. I rather be in a school that has Jewish holidays off, more Jewish people, than nothing.
December 12, 2016 1:18 am at 1:18 am #1198491Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantTznius- for sure! I just meant that you should check if there really are more Frum girls in the program. My impression was that there are Frum girls in your school, so I meant you should make sure that Touro really does have more.
In any case, I would imagine that Touro is better in terms of the various hashkafa and halacha issues that can come up in college.
December 12, 2016 3:47 am at 3:47 am #1198492bk613ParticipantAs with all Touro graduate programs the only Jewish part is that it’s closed on Yom Tov/shabbos (not even sure about chol hamoed) and they give you the option not to do rotation on shabbos. Most of the class isn’t frum.
“just its mostly for jews which is probably why its fully accrediated.”
What does that mean.
December 12, 2016 4:17 am at 4:17 am #1198493LightbriteParticipantEven if there aren’t so many frum women in Touro’s pharmacy classes, maybe Touro still has a stronger and more empathetic support system in place to guide tznius through any related struggles?
Advisors or counselors professionally equipped to handle uniquely frum circumstances or issues.
The professors may also be more supportive and/or better mentors for her Yiddishkeit growth
December 12, 2016 7:56 am at 7:56 am #1198494WinnieThePoohParticipantlightbrite, I doubt it. I don’t know anything about this program, but based on my knowledge of other graduate programs affiliated with frum universities, it is highly unlikely that the professors are frum or care about her yiddishkeit growth.
The convenience of having time off for shabbos, yom tov, and kosher cafeterias is no small thing. Yet, you cannot let your guard down assuming that you are in a frum environment that is safe spiritually.
December 12, 2016 9:00 pm at 9:00 pm #1198495Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantTznius – I think you really should check carefully if Touro will really be better than where you are now. It may be or it may be not – I wouldn’t know enough to be able to tell you. There are a lot of different programs and locations for Touro, and it seems that they are all very different.
Will there be more Frum girls there than where you are now? Are they the type of Frum girls whom it would be better for you to spend time with than the ones where you are now?
What are the goyim there like? Are they the type whom you will be less likely to spend time with? Some of the Touro branches are apparently full of non-American goyim. That may actually be an advantage, since you would be less likely to be influenced by them.

In the middle of Harlem? I doubt it.
You should forget Traif College and be a Gannenet.
December 13, 2016 3:55 pm at 3:55 pm #1198498Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantYou have to like kids to be a gannenet.

Some also claim you need to like children in order to become a mother, but that never stopped the ones who don’t like children.
December 13, 2016 11:50 pm at 11:50 pm #1198500Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI think most people like their own kids even if they don’t like kids in general. I guess Hashem made human nature that way for the protection of babies and kids. Imagine how many kids would be abused or neglected if it weren’t that way! It’s kind of a neis that people love babies so much.
