I love reading through the often spirited debates that take place in the Coffee Room forum. I feel really bothered and uncomfortable, however, when a user twists/respells another user’s username into an insult. It has no purpose other than showing off one’s “creativity” at the expense of another’s feelings, and it is usually far less clever than the author of the insult thinks. It cheapens the debate, hurts feelings, leads to retaliation, and hastens the closing of threads due to acrimony.
If other users agree, perhaps we can suggest to the moderators that any post twisting a member’s username to an insult receives an automatic editing or deletion.
Any thoughts or comments?

All kidding aside, I agree, but in context; sometimes it’s clearly meant in a lighthearted way. For example, others have agreed to something I’ve posted, and pointed out that I’m not a “Daas Yochid”.

DOS YUCHID

January 25, 2011 8:50 pm at 8:50 pm #731892YW Moderator-80Memberi dont mean to ignore you avram
the policy remains as is that the moderators will edit or delete what they deem necessary
if you see a particular name twist that bothers you point it out in a post.

I thought the DOS comment was pretty funny.
Daas Yochid,
I agree, but in context; sometimes it’s clearly meant in a lighthearted way.
I agree that some of the changes are lighthearted and not insulting. Prime examples are the subtitles under the usernames, which seem almost universally enjoyed.

The one that you commented on in another thread was over the line. I pointed that out over there as well.
