Where is it legal for a driver to make a U-Turn in the 5 boroughs of New York City?
(wherever police are not on the prowl)
HAH! ive made u turns in front of cops and have yet to be pulled over. then again…if they did pull me over i could probably start a riot and have some beis medrash bochurim from bobv burn some garbage canns and run around yelling 🙂
As long as no signs are posted one can make a u-turn in a residential neighborhood. In a business district it is illegal even without a sign.
From the NYS Driver’s Manual Page 50:
You may not make a U-turn near
the crest of a hill, a curve or any other
place where other drivers cannot see your vehicle from 500 feet (150 m) away in
either direction. U-turns are also illegal in business districts of New York City and
where NO U-TURN signs are posted. You may never make a U-turn on a limited
access expressway, even if paths connect your side of the expressway with the
other side.
You can only make a U-Turn in an intersection. Never in middle of a block or street.

speaking of being fedup, I am very, with those who make a u-turn regardless of how many people they inconvenience or endanger.
they think it their right, like making a left turn. not so.
‘Derech’ should actually be the best equipped to answer the question.
I usually hear about U-Turn tickets on majot streets.
I got a different type of ticket for this. Cop said so to “U Turned on” on red!! And look at that sign young man…
