We are looking to take a 3-4 day family vacation with our children (2 toddlers and an infant). We’re looking into a few options and I thought I might get some advice / input here.

1- Has anybody been to the poconos in the last 5 years? What is there to do there? There used to be a place there that has private pools (my parents went there over 15 years ago). Does it still exist? Is it expensive? Are there minyanim there? Kosher food places?

2- Another option is to go to the catskills. Any ideas of what we can do there as a family? Or within the vicinity (an hour or so drive)?

3- Any other ideas of places to go with any info would be greatly appreciated…

    Thanks.

    P.S. I’m still jobless…

Thanks. I think we might be going to Lancaster, Pa. Any ideas on that? Cheap motels?

You are right; there should have been more responses. Its just that there have been several “where to go on vacation / bein hazmaninm” threads this season that were extensively posted to, so I figured you could get all the info you need there.

BP Totty: It’s true. I actually did take a look at those threads but the bein hazmanim one mostly was for single boys and on the other thread, it sounded like people had experiences going alone as a couple or with a family of older children. So, I was wondering if anyone had ideas for what to do with toddlers.

With toddlers we stay home!! They enjoy the local park just as much as they would enjoy Lake George! 🙂

If you really want to do the trip, then take some somewhere with a lot of outdoor running space. Kids love to be free in a yard, even a porch, or on green grass, without being restricted to their house.

smartcookie: You’re right. Really, we’re going on vacation for ourselves – change of place and pace. We’re taking the kids along so we can really spend time with them so we gotta find things that they would enjoy. And don’t worry – park will be part of the itinerary. Nice and cheap. And fun (for them at least)!

Ok, bananna boating might be too extreme. But the trails at Hunter / Tannersville are of various levels of difficulty, so as long as you are talking toddler as is 18 months and up, you should be fine. They most likley also have bike rentals with those buggy hitches that you can take on tame trails (once upon a time, I travelled with toddlers too 🙂

We went camping as a family, it’s cheaper than a hotel and the kids can run around outside. They have camp grounds that have Wi Fi, electricity, water, bathrooms so its not that bad. We had a couple of babies and it didn’t really.
