I need to know what time the vasikin minyan is tomorrow in Chicago. Neitz is at 6:48 – is there some way of figuring it out?
March 24, 2011 4:56 am at 4:56 am #752329popa_bar_abbaParticipantIf you know where it is, just show up however many minutes before 648 that it will take you to get to shmone esrei.
and assume they will finish about 700.
March 24, 2011 5:00 am at 5:00 am #752330🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantThanks popa. I was glad to see you were still on cuz I knew you’d know.
March 24, 2011 5:01 am at 5:01 am #752331🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantUnless you are being funny and I actually fell for it this time 🙂
March 24, 2011 5:09 am at 5:09 am #752333popa_bar_abbaParticipantI’m confused. Doesn’t my answer make sense?
March 24, 2011 5:13 am at 5:13 am #752334🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantit did. but it was also funny. Just making sure. Besides, “however many minutes before 648 that it will take you to get to shmone esrei” isn’t scientific so I wasn’t sure. But my son seemed to think it worked for him. He set his clock and went to bed. Thanks again!
March 24, 2011 5:28 am at 5:28 am #752335popa_bar_abbaParticipantDeal. But I realized they will probably take until 710, since tomorrow is thursday.
March 24, 2011 8:02 am at 8:02 am #752336haifagirlParticipantI hope this isn’t too late. During the week they start 25 minutes before Netz. On Shabbos it’s 40 minutes.
Which reminds me . . .
When I said I was moving to Haifa, one member of the minyan said if I start a vasikin minyan in Haifa, he and his wife will come for a visit.
Turns out I didn’t have to start one. There are at least three. (And I’m still waiting for that visit.)
The other day I happened to mention to someone that I used to daven at the vasikin minyan on Shabbos. The conversation went something like this:
“You know, vasikin usually refers to Netz.”
“Right. That’s when we davened.”
“Really? In America?”
