Today as most of you may know, is Veteran’s Day. It may not be an official Jewish holiday, but many of us have family who served in the USA military.
Just wanted to hear your thoughts, and any interesting details or stories you may have.

That aside, I am very proud of my grandfather and step father for serving and of my civilian brother in law who works for the army. And thankful to all the other (Jewish and non-Jewish) veterans.

I would be highly surprised to find that the military cannot make accomodations for people with handicaps. Certainly they may can’t fight on the front line, but there are plenty of other support roles that they *can* fulfill.
That being said, I disagree with Pashuteh’s point. While I think that serving in the military is a plus when choosing a presidential candidate, I don’t think it should be a bona fide requirement.

Again, I Thank You.

When we got off the plane, his wife and young son were waiting for him. The son was holding a poster that said You’re My Hero Daddy! When the soldier ran up to them and hugged the little boy, everyone started applauding.

Please remain in your seats when we have reached the gate. There is a soldier on board who is returning from Afganistan and is about to miss his plane home. Again, please stay in your seats to allow this soldier to catch his flight home.” Most of the plane remained sitting and started clapping for the brave soldier.
Thank you to all brave men and women who have fought or are fighting for our safety in America. We salute you!
