    Dear Bochurim and Kollel yungeleit,

Welcome back we at your Yeshiva office hope you had a restful summer break please know that while you were off most of us were still in the Yeshiva hard at work preparing for your return.

Here is list of do’s and don’ts to keep in mind when working with your Yeshiva staff.

    DO

Come in if there is anything we can help you with

Come in just to say hello to us we are always glad to speak with you

When making a request please preface your request with the following hello mr/mrs/rabbi so and so how are you? we like to feel like we are human beings and not pieces of office furniture

    DO NOT

speak on your cell phone in the office this is a place of business and it is hard to answer phones with a cell phone talker loudly speaking in your vicinity.

gather here if you are bored this is not a chabura or a lounge.

make an optical scan of everything in the room looking at things on peoples desk is an invasion of privacy and some things are not for public consumption.

do not pace in the reception area this is very distracting

I hope these tips have been helpful and once again welcome back!

Goq™, so you work in a Yeshiva office? When seeking help, do the guys address you as Rabbi Goq™?!

Gotto find this Yehiva so we can meet!!

PSST SiDi-I’m already on it. I have enrolled a son in every yeshiva in NY and when I go in to get the admit cards I will say “Thank you Reb Goq” at each office to see what happens. I’ll keep you posted.

How about ordering huge computers and printers and boxes of diapers and coins from the mint to the office? Is that a good idea?

It is pretty ridiculous for the UPS lady to complain about having to deliver packages…

I don’t think anyone was happier to see the beginning of the zman than I was.

When I would be on my way home from work, it was very disheartening to get on a bus at 10:30 p.m. when it was packed with everybody who had to come to Haifa bein hazmanim. And even when the bus wasn’t packed, I was still unable to sit because children were sitting in all the seats. I guess in Yeshiva they don’t teach parents to teach their children to give up a seat to an adult.

Now it’s Elul, and tonight I got to sit down.

Haifagirl, I thought you’re not an adult yet.

    “Who orders paper towels online?”

People order pretty much everything under the sun online. With Amazon Prime free shipping, why not? Especially in NY where there is no parking why would you want to buy things in person?

why do people order things to Yeshiva offices in the first place?

SiDi, because receiving packages in an apartment building (or even a house) when you aren’t home can be tricky. In yeshiva someone is there to sign for you and the packages are somewhat safe (though I have heard of thefts from yeshiva mail piles)

Mr/Mrs/Rabbi Goq – Okay, I am packing my son up and I told him to come to you if he needs help with his laundry, not to order diapers, to call you when he wants to talk and not to leave beer cans in the office lounge. Is that everything?

Some yeshivas started last week on Rosh Chodesh. Others start this week when camp ends. Either way, Welcome back bochurim. Learn well, be courteous to the office staff, and don’t post on the CR during seder.
