We all experienced hurricane Sandy one way or another- whether we heard about it, know people who it affected more, or are physically affected by it.

No matter what, this happened for a reason and the fact that we even ‘heard’ about it, is for a reason. Hashem obviously wanted to give us each lessons that we can gain to change our lives in a spiritual way. So tell me seriously,

WHAT DID YOU LEARN THAT CHANGED YOU POSITIVELY IN ONE WAY?

    i have some:

    1. To appreciate everything we have. I may be getting bored and i’m actually wishing that i had school at this point, but at least i have power, food, heat, electricity, and everything else! And for people that just lost this stuff, Thank Hashem that we had it all this time! This is our time to realize.

    2. A friend quoted to me from “Kohelet” -that everything that’s not connected to Torah or Hashem is havel haveling because we have no control over them. Through this storm i was able to see how people’s properties, jobs, houses could have been lost in a mere 2 minutes! That’s all it takes for Hashem to change something, so we shouldn’t live our whole lives obsessing over things like that.

    3. I heard from a Rabbi that because of the storm, people were calling others more to see if they were alright and families were cooped up in their houses together for a long time. He said Hashem is giving us an opportunity to make peace with friends, to resolve any arguments or fights, and to unite with one another. Hashem will go to great lengths for ahavat Yisrael and we should take the opportunity while we have it!

Simply that no tragedy is ever too great to be used to push an agenda.

It isn’t always a response to bad behavior. I just heard R’ Schechter say that it could be a hachana. The impetus for chessed and tefillos to guard us from future happenings (that we hopefully lived up to). He obviously supported it well and said it better than I could, but I thought it was nice to hear a more positive thought.

I heard something very beautiful from Reb Feldbrand.

Her house had no power for and extended period of time. SHe sat areound with her family in the dark and she told them that when the power will be returned, it will come all at once, the fridge the lights, the freezer everything will be restored at the same second. They knew the power company was working on it, so she said at any second we will out of the dark!

So too, must we wait for Moshiach! At any second he can and will come! And when Moshiach come the light will be restored to all! B’mheira B’yameinu Amen!

We saw that Yiddin are united and always willing to help each other.Food provided by supermarkets, caterers, women in Williansburg, and busloads from Baltimore to help with the cleanup. What other people would do all that?
