Is there a mekor in Halacha or Hashkafa for Bnei Yisroel to make parades?
Is this an anti-Chabad thread?
If you dont want to go to the Salute to israel parade, then dont go. Plenty dont go and plenty do go
Two places in Samuel 1:18:6 and 2:6:5.
Ivdu Es Hashem B’Simcha.
A parade can be considered a moving celebration with people dancing, singing etc…how is it different from a modern day simcha where a sefer torah is moved from the old shul to the new shul or the armies of bnai yisroel returning to the city after a victory in the time of the neveim?
People make a parade for Hachnosas Sefer Torah as mentioned from Samuel.
Rambam Hilchas Lulav 8:15
Dovid hamelch was mefazaz umecharker bechol oz at a parade
Klal Yisroel paraded towards the yam suf when they left Egypt (they didn’t run to the yam Sig it says they paraded towards the yam suf
I dont know if there is one, but I look forward every year for shmini atzeres to watch the “parade” of lubavitch chassidim walking South on Nostrand Avenue from Crown Heights into Flatbush /Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach and Coney Island with the simple goal of being mesameach on SImchas Torah in shuls who dont have a large base of mispallelim and make each one “leibidig” and to add to “brov am hadras melech”.
I will ignore the possible motivations for the question — but i like the question. The most obvious one is in Esther, I think. If not a parade, they were definitely parading.
Just a note on the Israel Day Parade. Three of my children moved to and live Israel. One finished in the IDF. One is in the IDF/hesder. And one is charedi/kollel . Now — aside from the obvious fact that they all ran away from their parents, people in our MO community ask — what did you do that all your kids went to israel ? And we answer — for starters we never went to the Israel Day Parade. 🙂
Didn’t מצרים make a parade for יוסף?
