Anybody know some simple eaithe DIY or cheap solutions to closed sealed windows that are still letting in cold air?

November 3, 2010 1:59 am at 1:59 am #706103oomisParticipantthere’s a new product on the market dols for $10 at CVS – Twin Draft (?). It is a sleeve that contains a foam filling, it fits under the door and stops the draft from both sides.

If it’s for your residence, the federal government will pick up 30% of the cost of the window if it’s in service by Dec. 31, and if you haven’t yet used up all of your $1500 energy tax credit in 2009 and 2010.

November 3, 2010 3:38 pm at 3:38 pm #706107squeakParticipantPoster, use double sided tape and stick it on the vinyl window, not the wall. Then, use a warm iron over the plastic (make sure it’s the thick kind, not the cheap kind) to smooth out creases. It may take practice.
Getting Federal tax credits this time of year is a good idea, because you can get the rebate pretty soon after you’ve spent the money (as opposed to doing something in January and waiting a year). Just make sure it’s a refundable credit- I have no idea.
