i have allot of memories from being very small, many from age 2 and some from 1; many people say they cant remember anything at all untill they were about four or five!

what was your first memory/ies, and how old were you?

You must obviously have a good memory just to remember your screen name

I remember getting married, but not sure of the date. Thank goodness for Outlook!

Ok, really. The earliest memory? Maybe 5 or so? My mother had a spice rack, and one bottle had cinnamon candys in them (still not sure why) and another had oregano, used for pizza, made on pound six.

(Q: who knows what pound six is?

(I’m expecting one person for sure.. anybody else?)

ok i remember going on a train to Boston it must have been when i was just turning 3.

although one of my cousins who learnt Physiology in college told me that u dont remember anything from before you were 3. Also this memory is based on a picture. (we took a picture on the train.

does anyone have any memories from before they were 3 not related to a picture?

i think it helps to invision your first house/s, and all the rooms and corners and stuff, then you remember all the memories that happened in those corresponding spots.

it seems like i can recall 3/4 of the days from when i was 2 and 3, is this abnormal?

    #778588

I vaguely remember an Malek teaching me torah…

cell alert, my very first memory is when i was said to be 1, i recall seeing a blury dark object hanging on my ceiling from a corner of my room against a dim glowing lamps light and/or light from a window through my door, (it was a net of toys hanging on the ceiling/walls), i was told it was only there when i was one and i was only set in that corner of the room when i was one, also there isnt any photographs of it.

i saw academic analysis of the “photograph theory” though sometimes when you see a photograph it repetively reminds you of the event increasing the probability of remembering.

I remember my preschool from when I was 2.5. My parents have confirmed that some of the stories I told them really did take place. I also remember sitting in a stroller and drinking a bottle, and I was weaned from the bottle at age 3.

    No, just atypical.

6HZ1W3J: Yes, I also remember things from that age. But my real sharp memories begin around the age of 3. Additionally, I remember other children and what they were doing 🙂 Its funny I can think of a friend and even remember what she wore and what snack she had when one day when she came to play…

6HZ, did you talk early? I noticed by children that when they are able to put things into words, hereby solidifying and classifying what they see, they remember it better.

I actually have been blessed Kinanahara with a pretty good memory and my first earliest memory I am aware of is sitting in my crib in a pamper wanting milk in my bottle. I was around 2 or under.

Good point. Or he could be joking.

Or, considering who wrote that post, it might have taken three years until they finished naming him.

one time this 90something year old lady was talking about her first memories, it was so interesting, the world sounded so vacant and young. i think she said she recalled sitting on a wooden porch at a farm with no electricity when she was a baby… i guess thats my oldest “second hand memory”. woulda been around 1904 or so in the midwest.

anyone got an older second or third hand memory? what was it like back then?

I believe I remember going to see “Beauty in the Beast” with my mohter A’H and sister when I was 3(early 3, since my mother died 28 days after I turned 4 and probably would not have been well enough to take us). I don’t remember much about her and I also remember running down the halls of the hospital once to go and see her and kiss her hand to wake her up(like in the movies). I told my aunt about this a couple of months ago and she said she was there and I did in fact do this(no one ever told me about it).

I remember my mohel. How many years after your Bris (remember that too?)was he introduced to you? I too remember my Mohel. It wasn’t until I was an adult (Long after his petira) that I was told that R Yosef A”H was my mohel.

My first memory? At what age is it normal to start remembering? I would be extremely impressed to hear of anyone that knows at what age they experienced their first recollection of a memory.

my early ‘memories’ are definitely because of photos, but I remember a birthday party for me under a big tree in the country: my age was probably between 6/7-10?

thats like borderline amnesia, anyone else have an even worse memory than “always here”?

i remember this time when i was maybe around 3, untill then i thought my mommy could see whatever i was looking at through my eyes because she always seemed to know what i was doing; i went up to her to show her something i drew, i held the paper at her but facing me and i looked right at the drawing and then started to leave, she grabbed me and said “come here, let me see it” and then she took the paper and turned it towards her eyes, thats when i learned that she had to look right at it too to be able to see it. i was pretty young, though im not sure of the exact age it had to be around two or three.

I was about 4 and my little cousin was turning one. I got all excited when I saw one of his presents and my aunt thought I was going to open it (maybe I was, LOL). She pushed me off to the side and I sat there stewing. There is a picture of me pouting while my aunt made a big deal of the gift and my cousin just stared at it.

I remember being in my mother’s womb. so cozy. really nicely decorated!

seriously though – i think i vaguely remember the first apartment we lived it – we moved out when i was 2. we have very few pics of that apartment so i really think it is from memory. i also remember the day we moved when i was 2 – i remember the empty bookcase in the living room and i crawled into the bottom shelf and thought it was so much fun.

i also remember some days in kindergarten.

    problem is…… i can’t remember yesterday LOL

i could one up you on that gefen! i remember being in shamayim, with the malachim singing so powerfully, it was amazing! and then, this one malach came to me and said “come with me, little neshama’le…”and i said “but dear malach, no, i don’t want to go…” then i remember learning with the malach, and i remember him touching me above my lips, and then i saw my mother, and magically, all my doubts and fears suddenly vanished!

ahhh! sweet memories! holy, sweet memories!

i remember showing my mom that the sheet in the crib was dry. 2 years old maybe. the crib was against the wall and i proudly showed off that i woke up dry that morning. i see myself patting the sheet with my hand as i tell this to my mom. i remember that something in the room was pink. besides the crib and its position i have no memory of anything else in the room .i must ask my mom how old i could have been. i also remember watching from the next room as the doctor examined my brother and made him cry. . we moved out of that house when i was 5 , but that seems to be an earlier memory.

” I teamed up with another kid and together we grabbed away a different girl’s snack 🙁 “

That’s it? No one sent to the hospital? Cops (and / or parents) not called down?

In my days, grabbing a snack would have earned you a finger wag at best. Then again, I went to an inner city school and it was back in the 70s, so times were different then.

Grabbed a snack, huh? Don’t sweat it. You’re still just as “pure” as Adorable

I donno, now you got me thinking why I was punished so harshly for that. They put me in one corner and my partner in crime in another corner. Well well…I turned out fine!
