What’s up with the kookie glasses?
Lately when I go to shul I can’t help but notice that I’m surrounded by a large amount of fellas in really dopey glasses.
Like an army of Hollywood directors Got their Synongogues mixed up or a group of George Burns impersonators hit the tri-state area.
I realize it’s in style, but common! Does it not have to fit the person too? I see it’s mostly chassidim, who are bold enough to showcase this trend. I find that very interesting!
Is this the Lipa style glasses?

As long as you are THINKING FOR YOURSELF,and you actually think the glasses suit your face,why not?
But the fashion industry can definitely fool people into thinking something wierd looks normal–as soon as they show a handsome/pretty model sporting whatever it is…like pointy shoes that look like they came from Shushan,for example.
I haven’t seen this at all. Maybe I need new glasses.
Without photos or illustrations, this discussion might as well critique mimes.
Chasidim especially like them because it’s really the only way to express individuality.
whatever is comfortabe for you and you like it then go for it dont care whats in style out there be yourself. good for you if you could.
Bombmaniac: in a word, yes.
A goy or even a MO person can choose his shirt, his pants, his shoes, etc. For chasidim, all of it is uniform and the only thing that can be different without too many people complaining are glasses.
can someone artistic draw us a pix of those type of glasses , for us pple who do not wear glasses and have no idea what you are talking about?

When we were in high school it was all about socks.Argyle,Pierre Cardin,Anne Klein….ridiculous!Personally,I just made sure mine matched.
I wear these glasses!! i LOVE them!!
@bein, I work in a school and saw a student wearing HUGE classes like that. I asked my sister who is in her grade what was up with them and she told me they’re not even real glasses. There is no prescription in them or anything. When I heard this, I just started laughing. A couple of years ago, we would not have been caught dead wearing something like that lol.
Personally, I wear wire-rimmed contact lenses.

They are just like other wire-rimmed gasses, but smaller.

I can’t believe these large plastic glasses are being worn voluntarily.
I still have a twenty-year old pair of those that I keep to remember how ridiculous I looked. I had no choice, though, because all the free ones were like that. I ran full tilt to contact lenses as soon as I could and didn’t look back.
i saw a pic of R avigdor miller and went, “Hey, those are in style!”
i think monocles are coming back in. gonna get my self a pair.
actually i noticed that most ppl who were these glasses are the tennagers and the young twenty year olds and some other ppl who want to be in also do i believe they look really good on the guys the girls dont look as good some of them look dumb wearing them

im not sure what kind of glasses ur talking about but i have been seeing guys wearing glasses that my father wore in the early 70s those big black ones like upside down letter D the first time i saw it i was in shock then i saw it again maybe i should see if my father still has a pair and tell him to wear it he will be in style !
My wire-rimmed contacts are external. They’re like the glasses John Lennon wore, only smaller.
Whats next “Bozo the Clown” shoes?
I don’t know if its still the case now, but when I was in high school these huge (and if you ask me) ugly x 10 rubber rain boots were in. Sort of what a 5 year old would wear to jump in puddles but on an adult. They were covered with polka dots and other really umm… ugly designs.

Toi: It would be interesting to see you wearing two monocles at once, but it might be uncomfortable for you, as (I think) they are held before each eye by the pressure of the muscles around your eye. Perhaps a pince-nez would be more comfortable, plus it is bound to offer more of a choice of styles.

True. There are thousands of black pants, shoes, suits, streimels, sweaters and bekeshes to choose from. Equally true is that there are thousands of white shirts to choose from.
About as many that manufacture bekeshes.
I don’t know what’s up with the weird glasses but I think mine are relatively modern, they are small frame titanium with UV protection.

The sculpture was at a art museum in Bogota I visited. Yes people have mentioned I have big hands but I am a tall guy.
