In light of the time of year and added seriousness of recent events, is this what we have degraded to deem significant enough to spend out GD given time and energy??? Amazing. great mussar lesson for when I get back to the classroom……. and for me for today!

The same purpose the CR as a whole serves. Some of it is serious, most of it is fun and games.
Not to worry though,Av / Elul / selicos / Rosh H/ YK is almost here, so you’ll have all the “tachlis” you want (and so desparately crave)July 27, 2011 4:11 pm at 4:11 pm #790307gefenParticipant
Rabbaim – sometimes we need to just chill. especially in light of all the recent events. i think we’d go nuts if we didn’t. like bpt said “Not to worry though,Av / Elul / selicos / Rosh H/ YK is almost here, so you’ll have all the “tachlis” you want (and so desparately crave)”
also – no one is forcing you to be on this thread. this is for those of us who want to have fun.
so…. how about the phrase “at the end of the day”?July 27, 2011 4:18 pm at 4:18 pm #790308bombmaniacParticipant

Youse. In my part of the country it isn’t unusual for people to use a phrase such as “”Youse should be careful” or “I want to thank youse all for being here.” Drives me wacky when I hear it.I, too, am also appalled by the modern usage (yousage) of the English language as used by teenagers, when every second word is “like”. Also, teens use four letter words as adjectives in almost every sentence. If you have to use public transit and overhear a group of teens talking, four letter words are used to describe everything – good or bad. I wonder what word they have left in their vocabularies when they really need a four letter – for instance after one accidentally hammers their thumb. THEN, you may require such a word to describe the pain.July 27, 2011 5:48 pm at 5:48 pm #790313taking a breakMember
