As a vereran worker on many chinese auctions i can tell you at ours there are people who try to maximize their chances of winning, those who attend the auction use oversized labels or put on labels on the slant so that a sticky end reaches over each side (of course not everyone who does this does it purposefully) but many do do it intentionally u see a pattern when it comes to certain peoples tickets.
Is this cheating or just strategy?

Strategy would be to choose prizes that are not as popular, so your chances are improved. Or getting there early / late so your card is on top / bottmom of the bin (as if that would matter, but it is a strategy)
Perhaps the auction managment should institute a standardized card, so everyone gets a fair chance.

May 3, 2011 4:45 pm at 4:45 pm #763688always hereParticipantGoq~ seriously. did you expect me NOT to chime in on this topic, lol? 😉
my experience: when I had a good quantity of tickets, I used to bring my own mailing labels; if they were large, I’d cut them down @ home. once, I actually brought scissors w/ me to an auction, lol! another two times, I ripped them smaller by hand @ the auction. lately I, more often than not, just do my orders online, but when I do attend a select few in person, I write out the tickets, cuz I’m dealing with a smaller quantity.
the only way I can imagine trying to use labels to one’s advantage would be: that they’d be ‘heavier’ & the ‘picker’ reaches down towards the bottom?
as we know, folded tickets are disqualified; but I knew someone who I thought was sort of bending the edge down a little?? I considered that cheating. that same person seems to always wait ’til the last moment to place in her tickets… I’m sure that’s a strategy in her mind. <selicha!!>
no matter what, I never put in more than one ticket per prize. I am a firm believer that if it’s meant for you to win, you will.

I’ve been in a raffle where I was one of three tickets & lost… & one of possibly thousands (NCSY) & won.
