The city I live in? Here in Yehupitzville I have to snag three bears, five bucks and a turkey to make a minyan. But I’m close to Bloomingburg.

    #2041406

City big enough to have 3 shuls: one hol, one shabbat, and one to never go to

Modern version: one inside, one outside, and one in between

@GH, There is a mikva being built in Regina Canada, only 3 hours away.

Yes…but cross-border travel under constantly changing Covid-rules will pose major challenges to younger couples wanting to start families no knowing if mikvah is readily accessible. In any event, after serious consideration, we’ve decided to leave Glasgow based on the new information we learned last night regarding decline in the local demographics.

Reason y’all are seeing bears in your backyard in Rockland is because over of… thoughtless… underdevelopment.

I haven’t lived in a city since 1988. I live in a town in Fairfield County, CT
Only Joseph (of CR members knows which one) as his daughter loved to stay here in the compound with my grandchildren BC…before Covid

CS: Thank you so much for the kind offer but we have no interest in perpetuating the suffering of the indigenous peoples of Montana by relocating to your Tepee. Instead, we are constructing a virtual compound in a really heimeshe neighborhood in the metasphere where we intend to reside until z’man moishiach.

Ymribiat, you are touching on a sore topic here!
Most of the frum residents of Rockland are pretty upset by the construction going on here. The problem is that people who come in from out-of-town, but property here, and bribe the local officials to allow them to build multifamily dwellings.
Most of the time, before a multifamily house is built, there is a hearing in Town Hall before the builder gets permission to build. Its happened so many times that the entire neighborhood comes to the meeting to protest, and the permit is given anyway.
I personally know someone who attended such a meeting. The building was going to take place in her neighborhood; she and all her neighbors attended the meeting and howled in protest. Afterward, this person approached a town official privately and commented, “but if they pay you enough money, they’ll get the permit. Right?” The reply was, “uhh… right”.

Goldilocks > Most of the frum residents of Rockland are pretty upset by the construction going on here.

let’s look halakhically: new construction should not ruin other residents, but can compensate for damage. Presumably, this is what town clerk is doing – developers pays for whatever damage he does to the town (what is it?). Really bad damage I can think of – building houses that will increase crime. Other than that – there will be more traffic? Think of all people who need housing and possibly of people who want to earn money building a house. You have to have a serious reason to limit them.

At the end, those woh feel strongly about this should start their own town, like new Square, and control what they want to do as a community.

b_t: Take a 200 mile cross-state trip to Bentonville and I’ll hook you up with my executive contacts at America’s largest employer and retailer so you can be Walmart’s preferred kosher chicken supplier.

He’s a chicken farmer, not a purveyor of kosher chickens. With the severe shortage of shochtim in Arkansas do you think you could interest those in Bentonville in live chickens?

I am surprised you don’t know where you live yet. This should be Indeana.
