I used to love the big one on Avenue Z in Brooklyn, bec they had some interesting closeouts sometimes. To my knowledge, that no longer applies.

of course~ I used to love stopping by the one on CIA & Z… it was right where I had to change buses to go visit my Dad, A’H; but it wasn’t my favorite.

I liked the one on CIA bet. J&K.. now long gone. you’d get a card punched for each $10 spent & when you had $100, you could pick out a special ‘gift’.. I got some nice gifts 🙂

I recently got to the big one on Ave.J off of CIA, but it was hot & humid & I had no patience for it. it was my first time in there, even tho’ I only live a few blocks away.

Velfare Velvel’s, on the corner of Division St and Avenue J. His merchandise is so hot, it’s a ness how he unloads it from the backs of the trucks he hijacks. He also cashes welfare checks and EBT cards and takes only 99 cents on the dollar.

I don’t know where you live but dollar tree is a great!!! dollar store! If you are in Manhattan you have Jack’s which is also a great dollar store.

Another vote for Dollar Tree, although many items are not consistently there.

I think in general the dollar trees are the best but the little ones strewn about the avenues can have pretty good buys as well.

For those who remember, it was simply called “The five and ten”. Woolworths in New York; Authenrites in Pennsylvania.

The predecessor to the 99 Cent Store was the 69 Cent Store (70’s).

Then there was Odd Job, Webers and G&Sons.

But my favorite all time discount store is Amazing Savings.

What other ones are there now other than Dollar Tree?

The 99 cent store near me has a big sign that says “Everything 99 cents or more or less”.
