Which detectors do you have in your home?

How about combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarms? Theres 2 types of smoke alarms, each protecting against different types of smoke- ionization, photoelectric. Which alarms protect the house best, and how many do you need of each and where is it best to place them? Which brands/models are best and why?

I just read this review on Amazon for a particular smoke detector. “Literature on fire safety says to get one that has both the ionization feature and the photoelectric feature. You see many that only have one feature or they combine it with a carbon monoxide detector. Get a smoke detector that focuses on its job. Get a separate carbon monoxide detector and locate it down at your level instead of high on a ceiling…..”.

I have a combo talking- CO & fire. Most people don’t buy the photoelectric type -too expensive. Even if CO accumulates first at the bottom, you don’t need to be warned till it hits the ceiling. So no problem with placing it on the ceiling.
