“Descendant of Aminodov”
Why?
February 3, 2012 12:27 am at 12:27 am #848973ED IT ORParticipantIm still praying for one, so stop complaining!
February 3, 2012 12:51 am at 12:51 am #848974YW Moderator-42ModeratorThat was me. I thought it was clever. Do you get the multiple meanings?
February 3, 2012 12:54 am at 12:54 am #848975Yserbius123ParticipantWell, YW Moderator-42, at least I know what both your subtitle and the number after your name mean. But you have to know the question, v’hamavin yavin.
February 3, 2012 1:44 am at 1:44 am #848976YehudahTzviParticipant“Do you get the multiple meanings?”
Nope.
February 3, 2012 2:10 am at 2:10 am #848977YW Moderator-42ModeratorAminodov was the father of Elisheva, the wife of Aharon HaKohain (see Parshas Va’eira). He is also the ancestor of Dovid Hamelech (see end of Megilas Rus), so whether you are descended from Aharon or Dovid you would be a descendant of Aminodov.
February 3, 2012 2:33 am at 2:33 am #848978YehudahTzviParticipantGot it and appreciate it (though my mom is Elisheva which is kind of creepy).
My kids have the honor of having a shtar yichus going back to King David (through my wife). I only have a mesorah of Kehuna. My papers must have gotten lost in Spain (though I did just find out we’re related to the Rapaports some way back).
With all that, it’s just as I say to my many friend who are Geirim that they are the only ones who can prove that they are %100 kosher Yidden. 🙂
February 3, 2012 2:37 am at 2:37 am #848979YW Moderator-42ModeratorMy “multiple meanings” was referring to your mother’s name and the fact that you are a Kohain. I thought you had said somewhere that you were from Dovid HaMelech as well. I guess that was your wife.
February 3, 2012 2:40 am at 2:40 am #848980YW Moderator-42ModeratorAnd I love that line about geirim being the only 100% kosher yidden. 🙂
(Though how would they prove that the beis din that converted them were Jewish?)
February 3, 2012 4:16 am at 4:16 am #848981OneOfManyParticipantI’m still wondering who gave me mine… 🙂
February 3, 2012 7:41 am at 7:41 am #848982NechomahParticipantMaybe the same person could take mine away. I think it’s pretty stupid.
February 3, 2012 9:01 am at 9:01 am #848983YW Moderator-42ModeratorOOM (WUM) and Nechoma were both me. One was based on the screenname pronunciation thhread. The other was based on an anti-subtitle thread. If you don’t like it I can have it removed.
February 3, 2012 10:08 am at 10:08 am #848984NechomahParticipantThanks
BTW, 42, I do think that OOM (WUM)’s subtitle is great, just mine was based on one post in one thread and is not representative of who I am.
February 3, 2012 11:57 am at 11:57 am #848985uneeqParticipantI think my current subtitle “member” is quite nice, especially compared to similar possibilities such as “dismembered” or “membrane” and “remember, remember, the fifth of november”.
So I think I’d like to stay with my current one, one that classifies me along with most of K’lal Yisroel, and to try to keep my uniqueness 😉
February 5, 2012 2:19 am at 2:19 am #848986OneOfManyParticipantOh, thanks Mod-42. 🙂
February 5, 2012 2:56 am at 2:56 am #848987ItcheSrulikMemberThe question, when you are teaching Data structures to a room full of geeks is “Guys, can you give me a random number?”
February 5, 2012 3:04 am at 3:04 am #848988OneOfManyParticipantBah, pseudorandom. *geek fail*
February 5, 2012 3:09 am at 3:09 am #848989yoyo56Memberwho gave me mine???
September 1, 2017 12:36 am at 12:36 am #1352724👑RebYidd23ParticipantWe used to have clever subtitles like that in the old days.
