I’m wondering if moderators can impose their own political/religious beliefs when choosing to delete a post. For instance, if a post seems too Tziyoni, can a moderator, who might have very differing opinions, get away with deleting one he or she disagrees with, without someone from YWN knowing about or stopping this??

We can, but we don’t. I have approved posts that I disagree with politically and hashkofically and I have approved posts that embarrass me or speak against me as long as they conform to the rules.

They are rules that need to be followed, if they are followed I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow it

    #1177198

That would be dishonest and corrupt. Deleting someone cursing… Is one thing but deleting a post cause you moderator doesn’t like it is dishonest and corrupt

The moderators can be biased, but they are not. They probably could in some instances get away with removing opinions they disagree with, but the moderators are a diverse group who can all see when that happens.

To her credit, Syag allows posts that she violently disagrees with.

They even allow me to post. If they allow that, they’ll probably allow anything.

    1. Moderating is the best solution, not a perfect one. If you want to see how much worse is the alternative just look anywhere on the internet.

    2. It takes really close-minded and redical moderator(s) to delete a post just because it’s too zionist.

    3. Even if it was a real problem, There are much bigger evils than a website that isn’t pluralistic enough.

I once posted something instead of approving it the moderator began arguing with me via email, I asked him/her to edit it and approve It, yet it was never posted.

Now I’m curious. It doesn’t sound like me but I’ll have to look for it…

I have posts either edited or rejected. When I asked the moderators why they explained how the posts didn’t conform to the rules. That ended the discussion.

2scents: What was the subject of the post you’re referring to? I’ll check my email history.

The “I’ll check my email history” sentence was not in my comment but edited in by the powers that be.

How do you email moderators? How do they email you?

I do not remember the exact comment, however it was regarding J Pollard, I raised a question and received a direct response from a mod. The mod refused to publish my post, yet went out of his/her way to communicate via email.

I do not remember the exact content of the question or comment (can probably check my email history, yet not that important..) yet there was nothing in it that would be deemed inappropriate, which at the time gave me bad feelings about this forum.

Took a while for me to start reading these forums again..

2scents, I don’t know if that was me or not, and if it was me, I guess I would have already explained the rationale (though I have no memory of it). Looking back at the post, however, I’m confused why you should have any questions. The topic was fine, but most of the post listed assumptions and specualtions as facts. There was no real way to edit it without re-writing it.

Either way, if it was me, I’m sorry it made you feel that way.

Hey, I am not interested in going back, but to be honest, I was asked for sources, I responded with the sources, the response to that was personal something about having gone down and spoken to JP while he was incarcerated making me feel like it wasn’t due to the lack of sources (didn’t know that posters are required to have sources for what they write here..) only because of personal beliefs.

Either case, I prefer not to go back, I moved on.

    #1177218

Well it definitely wasn’t me then (not the source seeking type). So while I feel better about not being the source (no pun intended), my apology still stands.

Do the moderators have a Best of CR exclusively for posts that never made it? Like the opposite of the Best of CL?

So the CR is a socialist production?
